Saved me the effort. Spot on.
Flags, scarves, all good with me, but no need for the NSK/ULTRAS shit to be put all over it. Implies to me that it's some sort of enclosed group, with members n'all. I stand, I sing, i've put up with the vast majority of goons in H block in order to do so, but just don't see the need to set up an ultras group to increase the noise.

I'm in two minds, I find it a little cringey but I agree with eastlondonseagull, at least they are trying to create a atmosphere!

Why? What's sooooo cringeworthy about forming a group of like minded people who want to do something in unison for something they love? Falmer for all? BISA? Seagull Party? Any of these ring any bells?!!!

On the wider point however, lots of people only get behind the team by following a lead. Tis the way of life. There are shepherds. And there are sheep. We all know that there's a need for a nucleus of fans in the new stadium to start a song, just like any other ground. And there's nothing to stop a WSK or an ESK being formed and doing likewise in there. It's just that this groups based in the North. And I'll bet now that the NSK will probably do more for generating an atmosphere than any others once the hangover of the first game's over. And doing their own scarfs is an inspired idea to be applauded in my view. But as usual, a bunch of arses on here just sit and criticise them. Well, I'll tell you something for free - they couldn't give a coco what NSCs cyber-warriors think! They just want to generate a good atmosphere and leave those that can't get get passed the word Ultras without making vindictive judgments to moan their sorry lives away. I think I know who's sadest. Don't you?

No objection to banners OR atmosphere, I like that kind of stuff in fact. I just don't understand the need for a separate group to do this. Surely we all want to help create atmosphere?

On the theme of banners (as with Man U / City), when did Palace last win a trophy, whilst we were winning league titles etc. Could be a good way to get things underway at our new home with the rolling annual banner. City are back after approx 34 years I believe, but we must be able to let Palace have it with our own one against their manky mob.

It's not for everyone, there will be plenty of people determined to sing and get behind the team without having anything to do with it, but if it helps some people to get organised and have some kind of identity to go with it, where's the harm?

We're a bunch of disparate individuals with different tastes, different ways of doing things, and different personalities. There will always be factions and different groups who like to band together. Who cares, so long as we get behind the team and the Amex rocks!

Were this bunch of fans supposed to call themselves Group 1 or something to meet your ow so ridiculous prejudices? What are your suggestions, are you joining them and if not, why the f*** should they care what you think if they just want to create a better atmosphere and add some colour. I think it's great a bunch of like minded souls are putting themselves up to create a focal-point. The down-side is bunch of cyber-tossers turning on supporters of their own club. But you just carry on with your bigotry, there's a good boy.

One of them will point out that we haven't finished above them in the league in 30 years or something daft, and that'll be the end of that...

Can only assume Portlock Seagull is one of the organisers of this group as he appears so defensive of it all.

All I know is that a lot of people have moved away from H block in recent years, but people won't have that luxury at a sold out Amex. I just hope this ultras mob consider that and focus on supporting the team with their songs, rather than singing ditties about how wonderful they all are in their branded scarves for their own enjoyment on youtube the next day.

In an ideal world, they will help create a fantastic atmosphere, others will follow, and nobody will give a monkeys who is part of the "NSK". I just hope they don't create an 'us and them' culture with their own name and logo and we all get along....!

If you read the original thread you'll see I WANT singing AND atmosphere, just dont think supporters forming their own private groups to do it is the way forward!!

Perhaps I'm wrong, we wont really know for a few months, but it's interesting to see others views on it.

So what are they supposed to do? Go round and introduce themselves to EVERYONE and get a petition signed for approval. FFS, it's just a group of mates who have formed a body around which others could, if so wish, join by way of a common identity. Or do I have to explain how social-interaction works? Damn some people need to get off the net and try the old ways of forming relationships. Ow and for what it's worth, the NSK don't give a f*** what those petty-minded enough to critise think. They just want to have some fun and bring a bit of "colour" to the new ground before the ghosts of west stand goldstone take up residence at the AMEX. Sounds like many already have...

These ultras aren't for me but good luck to them
Two points I would make though:
1) The St Pauli song is f***ing ghey.
2) Drums are for fans who can't make enough noise through singing alone.

The word "ultras", for whatever reason, makes me cringe a little. Mainly because you know these "ultras" will be a mix of retired mods and 12 year olds but it's quite dissociative and will almost certainly create a divide in the stand. I'm all for the use of flags etc but items such as the aforementioned badge are, well, a tad ridiculous! However the same thing persists to piss me off and thats when people who try to create an atmosphere get shouted down for effectively trying. H block may have contained some utter, incompetant, food throwing, steward berrating, spack heads, but it did try and infact did get behind the team consistently and more so than anyother part of the ground. You need a section of the support to sing throughout, it would be nice if the whole stadium did it of course, but that is unrealistic. More importantly it would be good for the whole of the north stand to be up singing, basically because it would be f***ing loud!

100% agreed :)

this..... i was in original North stand all through 80's and 90's......... they'll never own Krispies!

There are many others like me, who were there and I guess many of the NSK were not in the North stand watching Ward, Case and Robinson, so I hope they don't break away into a faction from the genuine original 'North stand brighton boys'

I'm all for making an atmosphere and everything but the whole 'ultras' thing is bollocks. Can we not make an atmosphere without the name 'ultras' because it does make us look very very stupid.

Your opinion, anyone please offer options please how its done then. Most grounds around the country make an atmosphere and we have one of the best stadiums in the country to create it....I think the Christ Church Band before home games would be perfect

Wrong! Nothing to do with, though have spoken to a few of these fine fans at games. Just fed up with small mindness demonstrated on here from those jumping to ill informed conclusions. Starting a thread to have a pop at supporters wanting to help generate a better atmosphere is just ridiculous in my view. What's the harm?

Massive over-reaction.
I've got nothing against them, and I appreciate the principal, think you've completely misread my post and presumed i'm another of these conservative bores. In fact I had a chat with one of the main blokes behind it at Huddersfield last season, and told him exactly what I just wrote, that I'm all for more singing, new songs, et all, I just don't see the need to "name" the group and bring in flags and scarfs with the branding on.
If people want to sing, they will sing, this group can stand in the North Stand and i'll happily join in. Just feel by making this "Ultras" group, it if anything is enclosing it, instead of opening it to all to join which is the aim. Clearly you feel the opposite, and that it's a good idea. No need for all this high horse nonsense.

Agree on both, but I think the NSK are just bringing hand-bells to the AMEX.

There's a need to get on a high horse when you can't see the plebs for the cretins. Why can't they form their own identity and sell stuff? You're a member of NSC. Bit cliquey that isn't it? What about all those supporters who aren't? Bet you're also one of those 1901 groupees too? Outrageous you belong to all these other supporter "groups". Bet you bought gulls eye t-shirts too? How cliquey. Gang-culture at BHA is riff. I tell you, we need the home secretary down here to put a stop to all these groups and their identities. Nothing but trouble.
