Murray did nothing for 2 seasons as we played a more direct game.

I disagree

2007/8 8 goals in 18 games (0.44 goals per game)
2008/9 12 goals in 28 games (0.43)
2009/10 14 goals in 37 games (0.38)
2010/11 22 goals in 50 games (0.44)

The one thing you can say about his goalscoring record is that he has been very consistent for us.

with one key difference: Wilkins was pretty good. unless the Palarse managment inject a substantial amount of cash, they will be using the academy and a few journeyman to suppliment what they currently have, so really dont see why they expect to turn the ship into a blue ribbon challanger.

this.....

Freedman may turn out to be a decent manager, who knows? The worry should be, if you are a Palace fan, the old name an experienced number two trick in bringing in Lennie Lawrence. It's all a bit Micky/Corky isn't it. If they have the funds their supporters both on here and on their board would have us believe then they would have given Eddie Howe the money both personally and in terms of spending budget surely? Any sensible Eagle more than welcome to respond/refute.

this.....

I can categorically tell you now that if Eddie Howe had of accepted the managers job earlier in the year he would of become one of Palace's highest ever paid managers, at the time he just felt he had some unfinished business at Bournemouth, but he was very very close to signing as manager. After the Palace scenario he then had a big falling out with the chairman at Bournemouth which led him to go to Burnley.

just how much do Palarse think their owners are worth? i think i saw someone mention over a billion, but there's zero evidence of that. best i could see was collectivly they are worth a few hundred million, and thats largly the value of their respective companies, not free cash. havent they stated only signing bosman's? not an indication of great wealth.

you keep deluding yourself there fella...... even if you offered to make him the best paid manager in your history, he likely cares more about his future CV and job prospects than the short term money.

As an astute man I reckon he looked at your squad, their constant beatings, lowly position, old crumbling stadium, previous financial disasters, and current "Asti spumanti" transfer funds from your big talking "champagne charlie" city boys and he simply thought..... f**k that. it's mission impossible.

He simply didn't want to join George Burley in the managerial graveyard that is Selhurst and went to a job with better prospects.

There is a big difference between a real vision (like we are seeing here in Brighton) rather than trying to sell a fantasy dressed up as a vision as you seem to be doing (with a shit squad, no money for transfer fees and just an aspirational stadium drawing)......

:lolol: Do you REALLY believe what you've written there or did you not want to tell the truth on an Albion board for fear of ridicule?

Oh for goodness sake he's a bloody footballer who needs to earn a living. Do you really think he should take into consideration the fans feelings when he is negotiating his next contract especially when he is unemployed. By all means slag him off when he was here if you didn't feel he gave us value for money but please just move on now.

I disagree, I've got friends who have stayed in jobs where they've felt loyalty to their employer, even though agencies etc. have offered them work with more money. If you like where you are, enjoy the 'spirit' among your colleagues, there are many of us I expect that wouldn't leave our jobs for a comparative few extra £££'s.

To leave your present employers and then join a bitter rival or competitor in any field, you are likely to be derided for it. If one of the Championships real title contenders had come in for him, then okay, he's considering his ambitions as a footballer, but leaving a team with the positive football we play on the eve of the stadium being finished, with a manager really putting his mark on the game to join that shower of shite, I'm sorry, he will deserve every bit of anger he gets on his return.

For an extra £20 a week I might agree with you, but Palace have offered Murray £546,000 over what we were prepared to pay for the next three years. Loyalty works both ways, perhaps the Albion could have stretched the offer a bit higher, and he might have stayed, or perhaps Gus wanted him, but prefers to spend the extra money elsewhere?

Drugs, the scourge of Croydon. Why did Howe pass up on Palace for Burnley ? Obviously Burnley were far better placed in the league that Palace but there must have been more than just money that put him off Palace. He's a young manager and unlike Murray just starting his career in that field, there must be more to this than meets the eye.

Agree with that.
Would love him to have stayed and got us into the prem. The chances of him getting Palarse into the Prem are realistically non-existent. His move just demonstrates a complete lack of personal and professional ambition and nouse. Short term he's going to be a bit richer but they will soon reduce his contract when they are struggling in Div 1 and can't afford his wages.

I've been busy - have we signed him then?

Is he any good?

Will you boo him?

Has the dog fiddler mentioned administration or St.Js Ambulance in the last 5 minutes?

That is the funniest thing I've read on here for years. How much of a mug are you to believe that? Was that the 'official version'? They were never going to explain it by saying you were mugged off by a League One boss for being too crap. Basically, when it was Palace, he had 'unfinished business'. As soon as someone better came calling, the bloke couldn't leave fast enough.

Think you should be happy with staying in the championship firstly
Prem league would be a very large jump
