As I live closer to the US border than most posters here.

As a typical white canadian guy - even in a post 911 world I can still cross the border easily. Crack a joke with a border guard and even get them to give me directions when they really should not be. Americans as people are absolutely wonderful. Only as a nation do they become pricks. Too many self interest groups run the Country (but i'm no expert).
