So if you paid a fortune for the broadcast rights and your customers were prepared to pay a lot of money to watch it, you’d be happy for some of the biggest social media firms to broadcast it without your permission for free,??
Yes, they must be really thankful that there are no free streams available on match days, eh?

So are the days of the pirate streams numbered?

I don’t bother with that, nothing moralistic, but I watch too much football already!

It wouldn’t be surprising would it? They’ll go after the promoters of the routes, using their usual trick of posing as an interested punter.

Probably not. Getting twitter to suspend accounts sharing clips is far easier than shutting down sites streaming matches.

Football streaming tends to be cyclical, when the options and quality dip there'll inevitably be new sites coming along to raise the standard, then those get shut down and the cycle starts again.

Bozza got his old fella out, if that isn't bad enough, Giraffe was holding it. Nothing to see here... literally.

I do agree with you and I'm not condoning this behaviour, but yesterday the game was widely viewable on-line with a pretty simple search. If the powers at be really want to stop this sort of thing they need to do something about being able to easily access the whole game on-line via a couple of clicks rather than jumping on a tiny bit of Twitter footage.

Even worse - whilst NSC's twitter account was being cut-off at the knees, the kids were thrashing me at Uno.

A quick read suggests there is little hope of getting it back. Somewhat ironic that I think today is the first day I've been on twitter since May and this happens. I could create another account or I could just give it up. Like Facebook, I consider twitter to be mostly utterly shit.

You could always start a new account entitled #ITKTITTLETATTLE
So are the days of the pirate streams numbered?

Whenever a stream had a dam built, there's always another underground that pops up

The NFL worked with the big social media companies to shut down unlicensed content a few years ago with great success. Seems like the Premier League are now doing the same.

Like it or not, when you are able to charge millions for your product, you will want to do all you can to protect your investment.

One of the reasons I’ve stopped blogging and left the twitter dormant. When I first started Twitter was an excellent platform where you had to work hard to get meaning in to a limited set of characters. Now it’s full of kids and trolls and about as interesting as a night in with CPFC G.

it doesn't take long for unauthorised posts to be removed these days .....sign of the times i'm afraid , a lot of people in oz have the tmx set top boxes for streaming .....foxtel are losing an absolute fortune......quite a few people i know are having trouble with these boxes now and i myself was unable to watch our thumping win at the weekend as my x96 box decided to mysteriously shit itself on saturday afternoon......whats the chances...??

We've had our secondary Facebook page suspended for apparently pretending to be someone we're not, go figure, the page is almost 9 years old.
I'm sick of contacting them now, the Facebook gestapo have spoken and there's bugger all you can do about it.

Interesting how the likes of Sky, and the clubs etc, often use fan videos from the stands in adverts etc.

If you are live streaming the game, fair enough. If you are making detailed highlights packages, fair enough. If you are uploading shitty mobile phone footage of goals, players celebrating etc, then shutting it down is a nonsense.
