I organised the first two, and they went pretty well, and each raised about £500 for REMF. Brett did it last year, did everything that I did - not his fault that the council GOONS, the trophy GOONS, and a couple of the entered teams let him down.

I'm stupid, stupid busy at the moment covering for my sick boss at work, but if someone is happy to step up to the plate, I'll happily help them with the contact details for booking the pitches, where to borrow the goals from, etc. I can send you the teamplate from one of the earlier programs, which has the timetable and fixture lists all printed up - just edit the team names to the new ones.

I have stop watches, whistles and left over raffle ticket books too, plus white-boards and dry-wipe markers to keep the tables.

I'll be bringing my Exiles team once more, too, and will be aiming to go that final step after last years UNJUST defeat on penalties in the final!

One thing that is ESSENTIAL, is that you have someone who is not playing to assist on the day - keeping record of the results, updating tables, collecting money, etc. The lovely Lush, did it for me those first two years and was INVALUABLE.

Cheers

Simon

Was early August last year wasn't it?
I might be up for organising it this year.
But as stated, it would be my first of this type of event.
But I'm a pretty organised chap.
I'll have a think about it, but if anyone else wants to do it, feel free!

I think what this thread has demonstrated is that there's going to be high demand for places in the tournie again. Is it going to be priority to the teams that were in it last year?

That is obviously going to be decided by whoever chooses to pick up the baton.

Let Brian Fantana, Sam and Stevie Boy (or any other volunteers) work out between themselves who is going to "run it", before worrying about teams.

Without anyone organising it there won't be a tournament full stop.

Agreed, Mark. Although given that a couple of the new teams didn't actually show up on the day last year, I would recommend that places are granted to the teams that have turned up every year - NSC select, Exiles, Crocs, Sporting...

anyway - i dont mind helping out organising it as well. i helped last year a little bit when it became apparent the night before that some teams were pulling out, although admittedly this help was limited as it was done when quite battered in a pub. as per usual, anybody in team croc will be expected to undertake our usual goal and pitch erection duties, even if some of the squad (potter) fail to understand the concept of a straight touchline

and, of course, the croc croc yellow army will be back to defend their hard earned crown. think it will be more difficult this time as we wont have the element of suprise about us anymore and with our star player a doubt, i can see us being way down in the favouritism despite having a TITLE to defend

I'm tempted to offer my services with regards to organising this shebang but I can't be 100% that I'll definitely have the time
