Can't believe we didn't get an honary 'well done' medal for being the ONLY team to beat the SBH.. that's akin to a Post office workers 2ndXI (retired) beating Man U next season..

We had already qualified for the Semi's so we fielded a weakend team (with me running around upfront) and we were conserving ourselves for the tougher games to come!

Bah.. When you were TWO down after 10mins you sent on your subs to stop the embarrassment, meaning a full team for over half the game..

I think your lucky to have got us when we were knackered....!

that, but we were totally shithouse that game and were outplayed

Shucks, you too kind..

I think we were like a firework, a final spurt right at the end (all show, no real go) and also that we didn't want to be lower than the Crocs....oh the embarassment..

To be fair its hard to comprehend anyone being worse than us yesterday. I didn't score a bad goal against your lot though!

Yep that would be myself, scored one of our only two goals in the tournament. Should have had another in our game but your keeper pulled off a quality save from my header!

haha. Yeah, you completely outplayed us in that game. If only we hadn't abandoned the much lauded sweeper system.

Beefy's lot scored a header too - against Crowhurst. An actual proper, floated cross, nod it in the corner header. Madness.

Can I make a suggestion for next year please? The top keeper award doesn't seem right to me. I don't want to take anything away from Rob as he played well, and saved a pen in the semis to take them through, but often the lack of goals conceded is as much about the team on the pitch as well as the keeper.

I know that we conceded a lot of goals but I think without Barrel Of Fun between the sticks we'd have conceded 3 or 4 times as many!!

I think that's a fair point. I don't remember having much to do in the group games except shout a bit, make a save against GYRO and pick the ball out of the net a couple of times in the last group game.

I thought I played quite well in the semi and the final, though, and had to make a few decent saves (inc. the penalty shoot out) but I know there were a lot of blokes who were making save after save in the group games.

That said, I don't know how you could do anything about it because, as Simon says, it then becomes pretty subjective and I do pride myself on bollocking Richie Morris a lot so I like to think my shouting helped our defence keep things tight and give me less to do. Perhaps more of a meantest defence award than a top keeper award? Good work from Richie, Chappers and Ali - plus the rest of the side who 'defended from the front' although I suppose that is acknowledged in our winners medals, isn't it?

Anyway, I'm just off to gaze at my medal again... Thanks to Simon for a great day and well played to everyone - two years and no heart attacks, that's pretty good going.

How about an award for best tactician? My ONE at the back line-up in the first game resulted in a ROMP and the SWEEPER system clinched us the title.

Only joking.

Can I sponsor a trophy next season? The Robin Friday Award for Maverickicity.

I think the keeper is a fair trophy. Much fairer this year then last when Crowhurst changed their keeper every game so the guy who went in goal in the final won it!

In fairness Richie, that was only because I didn't know that was the case until afterwards!

You will of course be more than welcome to sponsor a trophy. We can talk about that in good time....

I will do exactly that, Richie. There are no rules regarding trophy sponsorship, only that your pledge outweighs the actual cost of the trophy itself. If its one of the existing trophies, that's all you have to do - give me cash. If its an extra 'specialist' trophy, as in this case, I'd liaise with you over what trophy we get, and what the engraving says, then go from there.

Thanks.

No worries. Bung me down for a new trophy. A silver headband would be good...
