NSC Sponsored Match - Lewes -v- Redbridge this Saturday
As people may remember, the Chairman of Lewes FC gave the Albion a big boost a few months ago when he came out firmly in support of the Falmer Stadium campaign.
Sadly, this resulted in one of the sponsors for a game at the Dripping Pan (who plainly isn't an Albion supporter) pulling out of a planned matchday sponsorship arrangement.
NSC was outraged and we decided to step in and sponsor a Lewes game ourselves. Thanks to another supportive sponsor and Lewes FC, we were able to arrange this for a day when the Albion are not playing.
Which is why, this coming Saturday, NSC are the proud sponsors of the LEWES -v- REDBRIDGE game.
Kick-off is at the Dripping Pan at 3.00pm. All Albion supporters are invited along. Wear the stripes if you wish. I'm sure we'll get a tremendous welcome from everyone at Lewes FC.
The Dripping Pan is in Mountfield Road, immediately next to Lewes Station (turn left as you leave the main entance). There are car parks nearby - but beware! - Lewes has recently introduced a new parking scheme which is very enthusiastically enforced by red-uniformed parking wardens, so pay the charge or pay the fine.
There is an excellent bar at the ground, serving fine local beers, plus the usual range of imported alternatives. They even let you stand with your pint, behind the goal on a brand new terrace, while watching the match. How marvellous can things be?
The nearest pub outside the ground is the White Star, about a hundred yards from the station (turn right as you leave the main entrance).
Lewes are currently sixth in the Conference South, challenging for a play-off place to get into the Conference proper. Redbridge are thirteenth, but would be eleventh if they hadn't had three points deducted for playing an ineligible player. So it should be a good match.
There's a great Albion gathering planned for this match. Be there and join us! Christmas shopping can wait.
Special thanks to the 38 NSC members who have stumped up the cash to cover the costs of this sponsorship. Very soon, I'll be contacting the lucky few (by PM) who have had their names pulled out of the hat to enjoy the tea, biscuits and sandwiches in the Directors' Room. I expect we'll all want to be standing on that shiny new terrace for the match itself though.
