Glad you approve! MRRF10 is getting into the C64 retro scene so I may be able to hang up my emulators and webspace and pass the mantle on to a younger man in the near future.
It's amazing how much fun old games can provide when loads of people play. Taken on it's own, there is no skill in this Tennis Game whatsoever. As I see it, each game is played using a dice roll system. The outcomes are as follows :-
The server wins the game
The non-server gets break points and the game then plays individual points until that game is decided.
The game reaches deuce and the game plays individual points until the game is decided.
The whole thing is based upon Lambourne Games board and dice games. These seem to be sort of a Dungeons and Dragon's type of game but for sports. They provide games which enable you to simulate an entire County Championship season - ON YOUR OWN! Each match takes 30 minutes so an entire season would take weeks. You'd get RSI from rolling dice.
So basically, like Vic 20 football, this game is a random number generator in a very fancy (and topical!) wrapping. But it's fun for me to run and hopefully fun for the players. And this one has the additional spice of a trophy.
BTW - I will probably run the German Open around 3 - 3.30 this afternoon. Tomorrow, I am waiting in for a man to fix our shower so I may get 2 or 3 more tournaments in. I try and run them during working hours so people can see the tournament progress but with my strange working habits and 20 tournaments in the season it is not always possible.
