Afternoon.

The quality of 'country' pub lunches varies wildly from one place to the next, and sometimes you go back somewhere you liked before to find that they're now serving a large dollop of gash pie.

With that in mind I ask the brains of this fine board to recommend somewhere...
  • in EAST Sussex
  • in the country
  • that does really tasty pub food
  • and lovely beer
  • that isn't too expensive
  • or rerstauranty.

GO. x

The Bull in Ditchling does rather nice food.

I quite like the Shepherd & Dog at Fulking though I think that may just sneak into West Sussex.

I would always have said the Golden Galleon down at Cuckmere Valley, but it's not called that anymore. I went last week to find it's now just another chain place & is called the Cuckmere Inn.

So, Half Moon at Plumpton.

I looked at the menus and must say that I tend to avoid places that have vegetables etc as an add on. I prefer places that have a menu with a main meal which includes a choice of different potatoes and veg or salad.

The Abergavenny Arms in Rodmell, nice food, nice people and it sells Harveys.
The Juggs at Kingston near Lewes is also good.

Thanks team. I'll report back tomorrow afternoon/evening when I'm replete, and pissed.
