I don't think so, no. But the job centre is a government funded initiative, NSC isn't. And the point isn't so much that you should have to pay, it's that some people have paid to do it, and it would be totally unfair to those people to then let someone else do it for free!

And apart from anything else, it's Bozza's board, he can do what he wants with it!

Ok point understood, if others have paid to advertise for employees then fair enough.
But I still think fellow BHA fans should be able to help each other out for free, but that is just my opinion and I respect Bozzas rules.

I will look forward to the next thread on where do I hide a dead dog:D

I'm on the fence about whether the type of thread should have been allowed and or/whether payment is required - i can see both sides of the story.

One thing I am sure of though; the OP has made himself look like a right ****ing bellend. Not sure i'd want to deal with him on a professional level if that's how he carries himself on Social Media.

I think Bozza has handled the situation well and made the right call.

Indeed i tis and indeed he can.

The very important point I made earlier though appears to have been ignored!

IF you run a website that offers a commercial service such as offering advertising space for sale then you MUST follow the law of the land and display certain information which as far as I can tell is not available on NSC. - Information that had it been available would have avoided the need for this thread.

For what it's worth I've met the op and he came across as a really nice bloke. He made an error posting what he did and following it up on twitter. I'm sure he regrets it, not his point but the way he went about it. On the flip side, bozza has so far dealt with this magnificently. Handbags springs to mind! Shame really as this had real gold potential...

What a bell end.

Two, possibly three other accounts, actually. And another RT from his good lady wife.

Doesn't offering a commercial service on the site, ie advertising space for sale, open up an entirely new can of worms.

For a start there are the eCommerce Regulations which have to be complied with and full details displayed, (Full business details, VAT number, company registration number, email address of the provider, clear and unambiguous prices etc). More importantly full terms and conditions covering the purchase of such a service must be clearly displayed on the website.

Maybe if that had been done then the situation of someone unwittingly posting something that should have been paid for wouldn't have occurred ???

You are wrong though. There is absolutely no obligation at all to display advertising rates. Look how Digital Spy, one of the largest message boards in the UK, does it: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/contact/?contact_type=advert#~oHRfm6Rf1Vnor3. Look how TechCrunch do it: http://techcrunch.com/advertise/ Look how Stuff do it: http://www.stuff.tv/advertise

This 'contact us if you want to advertise' approach is the most common way these things are handled - very few companies display advertising rates.

NSC is not a retail operation - we have no products to sell - we have no prices to display to anyone.

Regardless, you can be sure that if we had a 'Advertise with us' link, most people would neither find it nor follow the details.

Techcrunch are not a UK organisation/company, the other two sites are.

Both the UK sites, (Digital Spy and Stuff), publish full terms and conditions on their sites as well as full company and contact details as required by the eCommerce Regulations 2002.

I know that - NSC had the same but they got 'lost' en route somewhere recently and they're on my list to pop back. Easy to remedy.

I was picking up your point on advertising rates being displayed though - can you highlight those please...

The bloke was trying to do someone on here a favour boy getting one of our sons into employment. Why should he pay

My favourite post on the entire thread.

Will anyone be offering to get our daughters into employment too? Perhaps a half day course in domestic ironing skills, or a little typing, maybe some cake baking, just so as to give them something to keep busy while the menfolk are out earning a proper wage?

I forgot to add in my earlier reply that the eCommerce Regulations require that prices are clear and unambiguous - that is not the same as saying that prices must be displayed.

Where however prices are given then these must be clear and not open to misinterpretation. You have indicated a price in replies to this thread but not in a place where anyone wishing to advertise on the site could easily find them.

I'm not being awkward over this but as someone who ran a commercial site for many years I am aware of the regulations having had them brought to my attention by Trading Standards for not fully complying with them. You may wish to investigate them for yourself a little further.

Please show me where the sites mentioned above show clear and ambiguous prices for their advertising. I still can't find it.

They don't show any prices at all - that is the whole point.

If however you do indicate a price, as you have done on this thread, then they must be clear and unambiguous - which they aren't.
