A question arises;

When you know someone off NSC, or have met them before, how awkward is it for you when they act like utter cretins on here?

It can’t be easy reading a post and thinking “this is an obvious troll post”, then realising your mate posted it?

Do you call it out? Do you go softer but disagree because you’re their mate? Do you act exactly the same (least likely, given you might be sharing a pint with them at the weekend)?

***just be clear, this isn’t a name and shame exercise about who you know specifically from here - I’d rather you didn’t - but more related to the actual questions above***

I keep to myself and know nobody in person on here (to my knowledge?). Still waiting for that curry night ;)

Must be pretty embarrassing though to be mates with someone who acts like a dick on here…
I know a few, but not many. Sure they think I post a pile of horsepoop most of the time as do some of them, but if they did act like a dick I’de probably ignore the thread - if it’s that obvious someone else will wade in anyway :shrug: Hasn’t really happened but not sure it would really be embarrassing.

I know, I think, nine people on NSC. But probably know others I'm not aware of.

Three from village cricket
Four from attending games in the bad old days
One is an ex work colleague
One from internet radio.

I've also met one or two on one off occasions. I wouldn't say they are any different to on here.

I'd like to meet some on the cricket thread and think a summer gathering at Hove would be a good thing.

I've had some warm exchanges with some folks in private messages. The kindness of strangers knows no limit in NSC

I probably know north of 20 other NSCers. A few who've helped out with 'doing stuff', a couple who sit near me at the Amex and it's come up over the years on NSC, quite a few that I've played football with over the years and the vast majority being people I've worked with. The two latter groups who have PM'd me due to something I've posted on here.

And each and everyone of them are absolutely delightful. Just don't hang out with dickheads :wink:

Swindon, but used to be Manila
I know @swindonseagull from my RAF days, when she used to serve refreshments on the Tristars that used to fly out of Brize Norton.
I've met @SIMMO SAYS
@Wrong-Direction
@BrightonCottager
@Harry Wilson's tackle (once)
@Bozza (once)
All at various times at the Amex.

Certainly no cretinous tendencies :thumbsup:
I deny I know @AmexRuislip but there was a bloke who used to drive the bog truck who claimed to have had trials for BHA and was once offered the coaches job....but decided to stay driving the honey wagon........not sure I believe anything he says...

Grew up 3 doors from @harrywilsonstackle....
