Fair enough but the season is December through to February.
Yes don't panic Mr Mainwairing, safely back into the sea for the French trawlers, I don't really eat fish unless its a good sized Turbot, the Yum was for all the illegal Bass eaters out there.
However, this time next week if I catch I will be distributing them to people in the village, in exchange for fresh eggs or bog roll
Catch and release between 1 Feb-31 March and 1 Nov-31 Dec, rest of the year limited to one per angler per trip isn't it ?
I have the luckiest packet of king rag in the world at the moment and am about to take it to Kingston Beach and let it go at low tide in my special harbour rag digging spot (where there is no king at the moment, but that lot might breed!)
I have taken the decision to stop, because it seems the right thing to do. Even though it's safe.
But is there any official guidance?
Hi.
I've got this:-
View attachment 121521
I think it was a leaving present, from an old job.
Anyhoo I've just used it for it's main job, that of knocking the lad next doors toys/ball/frisbee/games off my flat roofed extension, while hanging out the bathroom window.
TBH I've always looked upon it as a bit of a flimsy novelty item which has never been used for it main purpose, the bag is only 10 inches long.
(I've never really been a fisherman, so it was an odd present to say the least)
So what is it? and more importantly:-
Where could I use it in the west of West Sussex?
How do I use it?
Is it only for whitebait?
You could try fishing the Canal at Shoreham ? The patch of green just North of the power station is about the only place legal to fish there now. you could get some very small jelly lures and rig them on jig heads for some fun, there are fish in there, mostly small admittedly but some surprises crop up from time to time.
Legend has it the Shoreham Deep Sea Anglers used to often drop unwanted fish in the canal after their weigh-ins and some, recovered remarkably well and survive in there.
So it is an actual rod then?
It won't just snap at the merest hint of some weed getting tangled up with the line?
Been waving one of these around for the past
Three years

Nice. All-rounder or have you got a carp-puddle stick too ? Looks like it’s good for all sorts.
Not match-fished for a few years now, must admit it was the move to more and more commercial carp waters that made me lose interest a bit. Much prefer more variety, and rivers in particular......used to like the West Sussex Summer and Winter Leagues in particular and the Nationals.
Bloody Covid has delayed our restructuring at work, so won’t get booted out for a while yet. Hopefully might coincide with the start of the season.......
All rounder , had a Season ticket at Ardingly reservoir for five years on the trot nice natural.venue and with feeder fishing very popular at the moment getting a bit more bait going in. what nationals did you fish ?also fishing's a no go at the moment with club and commercial venues shutting up their waters I wouldn't pencil in the 16th of june imho

Think you’re right.....the Angling Trust are lobbying for fishing to be part of ‘exercise’ (definitely respects distancing I guess) but who knows.......
Fished several nationals.....Trent a few times (absolutely love that river, won section money a couple of times too...once had a week’s practice up there with the squad, was mostly too pissed to fish properly though [emoji23][emoji23]), Stainforth and Keadby, Nene.......
Fished Ardingly several times too........feeder good for bream and tench (some very decent sized ones in there) but also had great days with wag & mag for roach and perch at range. Plenty of action.
You obviously know your onions had some nice roach on the wag at Ardingly using corn and feeding hemp, you must have known Wes the Bailiff there then ?

Only vaguely....haven’t fished properly for years......
All on the plan for impending early retirement though. Will start off with a couple of local club memberships to get back into it, might try a few club matches once I’ve remembered how to tie a hook on and rig up my elastic. Good mate of mine from years gone by is still heavily into the match scene (regularly fishes with Gardener, Vallance, Camilleri and others - you probably know the names) and offered to help so might rope him in once I’m back in the game.
Yes I do, Gardener is on the England scene and fishes Old bury hill quite regular the other two are no slouches either although I've never fished against them as I'm not in their league ,problem is when you're out of the game for a few years is picking up the latest tactics
