FORMAT
This prediction competition operates as a knock-out:

GROUP STAGE will see 6 mini leagues of 10 people each and will cover all the group games. The top 2 in each group will qualify for the knock out phase. There will also be 4 lucky losers which will be determined as following:
1. The highest aggregate scorer across all three sets of group matches who has not qualified.
2. The 3 highest scorers across one single round of group matches who has not qualified.

SECOND ROUND will cover the second round and see the last 16 paired with each other. Scores set to 0 the highest scorer of each pair advances to the quarter-finals.

QUARTER-FINALS will cover the quarter-finals and see the last 8 paired with each other. Scores set to 0 the highest scorer of each pair advances to the semi-finals.

SEMI-FINALS will cover the Semi-Finals with the last 4 split into two pairs - highest scorer from each advances to the final. Score set to 0.

FINAL Covers the Final. Involves the last two, score set to 0, highest score wins the tournament.

RULES

Predicitions to be posted by following dates (I will accept late entries but these will score 0 for any matches already played):
a) 1st set of group matches - 7.59pm Fri. 14 June
b) 2nd set of group matches - 1.59pm Wed. 19 June
c) 3rd set of group matches - 7.59pm Sun. 23 June
d) Second Round - 4.59pm Sat. 29 June
e) Quarter-Finals - 4.59pm Fri. 5 July
f) Semi-Finals - 7.59pm Tue. 9 July
g) Final - 7.59pm Sun. 14 July

My decision is final but any errors of maths etc. let me know!

SCORING
Will be as follows:
a) HALF TIME SCORE - 1pt for correct result (eg, Win score, draw), 2 pts for correct score
b) FULL TIME SCORE - 2 pts for correct result, 5 pts for correct score.
c) FIRST GOAL - 10 pts for correct time,
8 pts 1-3 minutes inclusive either side
5 pts 4-6 minutes inclusive either side
3 pts 7-9 minutes inclusive either side,
2 pts 9-12 minutes inclusive either side.
1 pt 13-15 minutes inclusive either side
d) YELLOW CARDS - You will be guessing the total for both teams combined, if your total
is correct that is the number of points you will score (eg. If you guess
7, and there 7, then you will score 7 pts). If 0 then you will score 1.
e) RED CARDS - As yellow cards except your score is multiplied by 2.
f) VAR - Guess the number of goals overturned by a VAR decision - 0 scores 1 point, all
other guesses multiplied by 2 (1 = 2, 2 = 4, etc)
g) EXTRA TIME SCORE - For knock-out round only, 3 pts for correct result, 6 pts for correct score.
h) PENALTIES - Knock-out round only, 4 pts for correct result, 8 pts for correct penalty
score.


JOKER. You will be permitted to play a joker for each set of matches in the group stage, plus one in the Second Round, one in the Quarter-Finals, one in the Semis and one for one of the scoring options in the FINAL. The normal joker will DOUBLE your total points tally in that match. If someone indicates more than one per set then I will take the first listed only.
TABLES. In the event of a tie in points, position will be decided first on correct first goal guesses, then correct full time scores, then half time scores, then total of red cards guessed then yellow cards. After that I toss a coin! Once the knock-out phase has been reached, then after first goal guesses, it becomes penalty score guesses, extra time guesses, then full time guesses. Tables will be updated usually after each game, however, work will get in the way sometimes.

KNOCK-OUT PHASE. If scores in a pair are level after each set of matches then the tie will be decided by count back. I will go back over all the matches and award a point for each section you beat your opponent in, the one with the highest cumulative total wins. Should it still be a tie, then I will go back to the last game you predicted in Round 2 and start counting back. I will repeat this process until I have a winner. For the Final there will be a couple of extra predictions on number of shots and possession.

I can't believe that I have called the two extra time games so far with correct scores and have amassed 79 points from the first 6 games (including the use of my joker).
Makes me even more gutted to have been knocked out.

I'll carry on when I do get knocked out (probably this round!), I feel I'm invested now. You're right, it's been a huge lot of fun doing it, I've ended up watching games I normally wouldn't have too. Haven't enjoyed an international tournament like this for some years (despite England being a bit pants).
