REALLY enjoying this brooding slab of music from the trailer for the new gritty prison drama Starred Up. Heard it in the cinema on Weds and sounded massive.

proper electro

Ive kept on meaning on posting something to contribute to this thread, and now finally, here are a couple from the same production team.
This was at a time before hip hop got too involved in sampling, as samplers were still incredibly expensive, so synths and drum machines were the norm.
Some amazing (not all of it admitedly) stuff came out. As a point of entry look up Hashim...

Gerry Calliste Jr, & Aldo Marin. Two of the most gifted producers of the early 80s. The production still sounds immense played out on a big system

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a47CTyShbAU Hi Fidelity Three - B Boys Breakdance (dub mix)

I thank you.
These are just a couple of my old favourites that I have and treasure on vinyl - got loaads more :)

Will look up.

Pour moi;

Geotic - Abysma - very chilled out ambient album (by the chap behind Baths)
Japanese Breakfast - Psychopomp
The Flashbulb - In The Grass - just the one song, but it really is beautiful. Eno-esque.
