The thing about international football is you’re excited, then the reality is so often no where near the expectations.

I first started watching international rugby union in about 1977, the 5 Nations even then was incredible, 5 rammed stadia, hard as nails packs, mercurial backs. It’s still great, this 6 Nations has been fantastic.
My PE teacher was Welsh, back in the 70s

And I thank him for my love of rugby today

Tideway Comp, Newhaven for 25 years had a hard as **** Welsh PE teacher who was rugby mad, you won’t be shocked by the name Mr Davies :lolol: . He took minibuses of kids to 5 Nations games in Paris at the two stadia prior to St Denis in the 60’s and 70’s.

Who was the player?

Listening to Bill McClaren and things like this kindled mine

Was the ITV commentator tonight Nick Mullins? That was a goosebumps moment with the drop goal, biased passionate commentary in the moment.

The ultimate is still Ian Robertson 2003 in Sydney.
I missed that, I was living in Ieland and we had a power outage for the last 10 minutes. By the time I got to my uncles the game was over. I was very happy we won but I missed out on the moment.

Gwilym was one of my best mates and at weekends practically lived at Taffy Davies House

Remember having to be really happy when Terry Griffiths won the world title 😆

Embarrassing isn't it
It’s definitely creeping into rugby, unfortunately. Mainly with players feigning head injuries trying to buy red cards. Ireland have been particularly guilty of this over the last few years.

Gwilym was in my tutor group all the way through.

In two circuits of cross country in 5C, drizzle and gale force winds, the teachers sheltered with warm mugs of tea standing at Mr Davies front door
