This thread is where all your predictions will go and I'll be updating the tables. Please read through the stuff below particularly the bit about how to write your predictions
FORMAT
This prediction competition operates as a knock-out:
First round will see 3 mini leagues of 11 people each and will cover all the group games. The top 4 in each group plus 3 highest scorers from across the groups will qualify for the next phase.
Second Round will have 3 groups of 5 people each and will cover the Second Round. All scores are reset to 0 and the top 2 in each group plus 2 highest scorers across the groups will qualify for the next phase.
Third Round will have 2 groups of 4 people each and will cover the Quarter-Finals. Each person will carry half the total of their previous round over into this round. The top 2 in each group qualify for the final phase.
Final Round will have 1 group of 4 and will cover the Semi-Finals, Third place Play-Off and Final. Each person will carry half the total of their previous round into this one. However, after the Semi-Finals, the person with the lowest score will be knocked out, leaving 3. After the Third Place Play-Off the person with the lowest score will be eliminated leaving just 2 people standing for the final. The winner is the person with the highest score.
RULES
Predicitions to be posted by following dates (I will accept late entries but these will score 0 for any matches already played):
a) 1st set of group matches - 8.59pm Wed. 12 June
b) 2nd set of group matches - 7.59pm Tue. 17 June
c) 3rd set of group matches - 4.59pm Mon. 23 June
d) Second Round - 4.59pm Sat. 28 June
e) Quarter-Finals - 4.59pm Fri. 4 July
f) Semi-Finals - 7.59pm Tues 8 July
g) Third Place Play-Off & Final - 8.59pm Sat. 12 July
All predictions are to be posted on this thread, except for the Final Round when those remaining will PM their predictions.
My decision is final but any errors of maths etc. let me know!
SCORING
Will be as follows:
a) HALF TIME SCORE - 1pt for correct result (eg, Win score, draw), 2 pts for correct score
b) FULL TIME SCORE - 2 pts for correct result, 5 pts for correct score.
c) FIRST GOAL - 10 pts for correct time, 6 pts for being up to and including 3 minutes either
side, 2 pts for being 10 minutes either side, 1 pts for 15 minutes either
side.
d) YELLOW CARDS - You will be guessing the total for both teams combined, if your total
is correct that is the number of points you will score (eg. If you guess
7, and there 7, then you will score 7 pts). If 0 then you will score 1.
e) RED CARDS - As yellow cards except your score is multiplied by 2.
f) EXTRA TIME SCORE - For knock-out round only, 3 pts for correct result, 6 pts for correct score.
g) PENALTIES - Knock-out round only, 4 pts for correct result, 8 pts for correct penalty
score.
JOKER.
You will be permitted to play a joker for each set of matches in the group stage, plus one in the Second Round, one in the Quarter-Finals and one covering Semis, 3rd place and Final. This will DOUBLE your total points tally in that match. If someone indicates more than one per set then I will take the first listed only.
TABLES.
In the event of a tie in points, position will be decided first on correct first goal guesses, then correct full time scores, then half time scores, then total of red cards guessed then yellow cards. After that I toss a coin! Once the knock-out phase has been reached, then after first goal guesses, it becomes penalty score guesses, extra time guesses, then full time guesses. I’ll try and update tables after each day.
