I was wondering where the splinter was.

That bloke on the green bike ought to give up though.
He always leads the race but never finishes.

Blimey it's a foot long and sticking straight through the fellas calf muscle.

I take it your kids have to walk off a broken leg

No, what I mean is that the video in your link didn't show it, but Rob's link did.

FYI, not my kids, me.
Fractured my ankle playing footy, then went to the pub before the hospital.
Found out I'd dislocated it too.
No wonder it hurt slightly.

Ah tis strange as it was there when I linked it.

He, being in white, was the rider who was put back on his bike and being shoved towards the line, after about 20 secs of Robs clip.
He did actually sprint for the line, beating the Polish rider into 3rd, by 1/2 a wheel.

We were right on the finish line when the crash happened - he actually got up and managed to ride his bike over the line with that plank sticking through his leg. It took a while for him to get medical attention as he'd continued around the bend and nobody seemed to realise he was there! As he was stretchered off, he was clapping the crowd and pointing to his 'souvenir'. That's hardcore.

I didn't manage to get a picture of him, but this is the NZ cyclist who was involved in the same crash.

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
It makes a mockery of footballers that get helped off the field or stretchered off when there is no particular damage.

These guys were battered black and blue and yet still managed to run for the finish line.

A grown man running in cleats, is a sight to behold.

Better still, fighting at the end of a race, it's like Todd Carty on ice skates, on less coordinated.

I thought it was who crossed the line first, not how many wheels they were left with that mattered.
