That's a bit harsh on the British Electorate, who generally have a very good track record in these things,i.e., not voting for extremes, etc.

You shouldn't set yourself up as being morally superior to any majority, I thought thats what living in a democracy was all about.

It's not a question of setting myself up as superior to anybody. I readily stick my guilty arm up and confess I fell for it along with everyone else, and voted for the old trout back in both 83 and 87.

The British electorate are no diffierent to anyone else. We all want a cleaner environment, better schools, better hospitals, etc. But we balk at the fact that these things cost money, which means higher taxes, and ultimately compromises our lifestyles. Therefore most people ignore their high ideals on election day, and end up voting for the party that promises the biggest tax cuts...

Come on Royal, the only reason the Arm forces liked her was because she was the first polician to say nice things about us for years, mind you it was only cause she wanted to win the next election. She's like all the rest, as far as they are concerned, members of the arm forces she'd be kept in boxes and only be let out if theres a war.

Politicians .... scum ... the only exception is Ashdown. His stance on gulf war syndrome and support for injured serviceman is second to none.
