Obviously wish we'd kept him origionally as most seemed to think he was worth the money (if all true).

Still he can sort it out by backing up or partnering Hemed and delivering....... if we do get one other top striker then I think we have a great chance otherwise still a good chance of playoffs with a really strong team

Not the real one
The midfield deliver goals, so in my view we do not need to bust the bank for another striker.
IMO We do. Every team that has gone up automatically has a high quality front man.Murray is a great player, but I think we should make this as sure thing as possible and go for Baldock, Hemed, Murray + 1 other top signing up front. 3 main strikers is not enough in the Championship.

I don't like the guy - the way he let his contract run down, constantly banging on about being homesick and wanting to live up north then signing for palace, and that day at brentford. But if he gets over 20 goals I might like him a bit more...

Now we need someone with pace. Murray & Hemed are great at heading, & holding the ball up, but we need a Wilson type player, who isn't sickly.

It makes me fairly happy as I can now get out my signed Murray shirt that my parents bought for me at a charity event as a Birthday present about a month before it was announced he was leaving! Its been in the wardrobe in shame ever since he joined Palace!

This is so true. The complacency of some on here is astounding.

Im still hoping for a Murray and Vydra partnership.

Murray Vydra Hemed and Baldock.... it would be a cracking selection of strikers.

Now that would be a offensive roster to look forward too

I, too, would be very happy with that strike force

Vydra scored 3 in 30 for Reading last season.

OK, he had 1 good game against us when at Watford, but surely we have moved on from the days when a good performance earns a contract at Brighton ?

I agree. I hope we're not wasting money on Vydra.

So long as i is here to replace Zamora and we still have the main course to come so to speak i will be happy enough....

I am indifferent about his Palace connections having had seen Gary O'Reill,Simon Rodger and Paul Kitson come Albion and do fairly well.....well perhaps not Kitson.

Palace are still vermin *for the record*

Shouldn't that be 78 rpm? Or more accurately 78/79?

And what about the bloke who kept you up in 2009 - Calvin Andrew? A loan signing from Palace.

Incidentally is Glenn the only player to have appeared for both clubs in a sandwich mode?

This is so true. The complacency of some on here is astounding.

I think to write it off as complacency is wrong. There is logic on both sides.

I really hope we do go out and spend a fair amount on a striker as we would have an even better chance but, if we sign a quick striker but don't break the bank for him, there is definite reason for optimism. We came third last year with a points total that would have taken us up each of the last 20 years. We had Hemed with 17 goals as top scorer but nobody else got more than 7. I believe Murray will get double figures and with Knockaert/Skalak having a full season too, I think we've already strengthened in goal terms. Even if we bought in another striker who got 6 or 7 goals, that would strengthen us more compared to last season.

Don't get me wrong, I am hoping we get a quality striker (and think it may well happen judging by quotes and the fact we haven't really spent any money on transfer fees yet) but it won't be the end of the world that some will make it if we just get a decent option up front rather than break our transfer record.
