..... but reading Chappers and the Dwayne-man in full flow on another thread makes me yearn for the Good Old Days. When I was young we had bands like the Pistols, The Clash and The Buzzcocks. Good, wholesome boys who played tunes you could whistle! The words meant something! Nowadays the 'music' souds like two ferrets mating in the cutlery draw and you need a Linguaphone South Central LA course to understand the lyrics.

I know, all you youngsters are going to laugh at me. Just because I smell funny and can't make it to the toilet on time. Well it'll be you one day.

It's a wicked generalisation that all 'rap' music is crap and one made far too often. There is some very good stuff out there that talks about far more important issues than MOST of the guitar based music that is coming out at the moment. Unfortunately it is hidden in album tracks and (fortunately) doesn't make the charts so it does not get heard by the masses.

Yep. Nice bit of real punk goes down a storm. Those hipetty hop songs have got too many words! Take the Ramones - short songs and to the point. Less is more.

Now where's my zimmer gone, I'm off for ANOTHER pee.

I agree - I like music from many many different genres. From 50's R&B to Morris Dancing Music to various Underground Metal forms. Even some drum and bass!

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Robbie sucks arse! And if he doesn't, tell him it would sell records, and he would!

Some great bands around at the mo - English bands that stand out for me currently are Elbow, Athlete (playing Brixton this week if I recall), Muse... there'll be more i cant remember. Also, from afar, BRMC, Thrills, Strokes....(mental block - if i was a lazy bugger I could print up the XFM playlist!)

Any one of these bands is better than that "big up y'self and yo' homies", self indulgent bullshit...

Speaking of guitar based music - am I right in thinking that Shed Seven have split up?

Just out of interest, would you lot count Public Enemy as being music that is merely people shouting at eachother?
