I expect the same fans that would want to sell Danny Harding are the ones that in Archers and Bellotti's position would sell the ground.

If you sell your best players you never win anything and get relegated which costs lots of money to rectify. Can't we sell Leon Knight instead, if they have money to burn?

That is the single most ridiculous BULLSHIT thing I have ever read on here.

FACT.

Harding is anything BUT our best player. He is distinctly average.

If all these Prem clubs want to throw money at us for him and he doesn't want to sign a new contract and we currently have a debt problem

it's a no brainer really isn't it.

Spot on Lammy. I'd rather keep Hinsh, Virgs and El-Abd of our young defenders thatn Harding. Rangers have proved to be mugs in the transfer market in the past so if they put in a good bid for him then take it.

Do they have any strikers in return?? The Championship will be a bit harder than the SPL but shouldn't put them off. I mean we don't play in Europe either so there's no difference there!! :lolol:

It's a very competitive category, but I would have to agree.

Its a good job you are not in charge of the Albion then!

What Albion could get for Danny Harding is peanuts compared to the cost of a new stadium.

The object of the game is the build a football team, not sell off the best players to your rivals for petty cash.

I don't think anybody's arguing that the idea is to build a team and not sell off our best assets, Perseus, but you seem to be in a minority of one in thinking that Harding comes into that category. If we could get a decent figure for him, we could maybe finally free up some cash to get a striker in. We're not short of defenders particularly, but we're desperately short of a striker or two who could score goals at this level.

Getting rid of a left back to bring in a more pressingly needed forward sounds like, well, building a football team, to me.

Indeed. Harding has shown some potential but he is not one of our best players. This season his performances have been below the standard set by the rest of the team.

the object of the game is also survival. its about managing the best you can with the money you have got. If it was just about builfing a team we'd go and spend money we havent got on new players. Comparing people who'd sell Harding to Archer and Belloti is laughable.

I really can't get my head around all this interest in our Dan. Either I have no clue about players abilities (quite probable) or he has a great agent.

I absolutely agree Lokki - I just cannot see what the fuss is about with Harding, I often see him as the weakest link in the team, but what do I know I only see 75% of the games. he probably saves his best games for when I am not there

He is no better than Mayo IMHO.

AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

How many more times!!

Mayo has played over 300 games and is about 8 years older. If Harding is as good as Mayo now, think how good he could be with a little more experience ...

Sorry but it really f*****g annoys me. I know he makes mistakes but I strongly believe we should be backing our younger players.

Not signing a contract though, that is a bit shit, he's getting bad advice I guess ...

Make every reasonable effort to keep Danny Harding, but if he wants to go (not just his agent saying so) there is nothing we can do about it.

My inclination is never ever sell a player to solve a short term cash flow problem. Except if they are overrated and best to get rid of him anyway like Beeney.

When Preston sold Mark Lawrenson and Gary Williams, the sentence was mundaneness for 20 years or more, perhaps forever. These sort of players do not come up all that often!

That's my point. If he doesn't want to stay and someone is willing to pay for him then sell him. We need the money.

It would be nice if Harding did want to stay but he obviously has ideas of grandure after his U21 call up. It's not like we're selling Kuipers or something.

Mayo may not be one for the future but he has a good few years left in him yet! He is cover enough if Harding want's to warm a Prem bench somewhere.

does anyone remember Brooker?

So hang on a minute. It's ok to sell overrated players? Well IMHO and about 85% of the people on here Harding fits the bill, and as when we sold Beeney, we need the money. No one wants to see us lose players, especially young ones who will improve but you also have to be realistic. And anyway if he wants to go, get rid, end of story.

I should also say that Beeney was a quality keeper and in no way overrated. He did well both for us and Leeds after his move.

Harding is under-rated by most on this board... luckily most on this board are not picking the Brighton or U21 teams, or negotiating Brighton player contracts... he is in the U21's for a good reason... he is a good player with great potential... Mayo is a very poor substitute, IMHO...

I hope Dan stays...

Being an Under 21 England international means being a substitute in a Premier League side for the forseeable future. cf. Lloyd-Samuel, who may not be as good as Danny Harding at the same age?

PS: I am not so sure that Danny Harding would be good enough to get into say the Aston Villa side?

But would you (in his position) pass up the opportunity to go to Everton. You might break your leg and never get another chance? Or he might go and and get lost in the reserves.

What would I do in his position? I wouldn't travel north of Watford for a start :lolol: (And I would not go nowhere near south London or Portsmouth.)

Totally agree and so will a lot of Leeds fans.

Also remember him being awarded legendary status for 'Running the Millwall' in 1992 when some prick got on the pitch.

:clap2: :clap2: Beeney ran the Millwall, Beeney ran the Millwall :clap2: :clap2:

I agree with this and if he wants to go I hope there is a bidding war so we can get lots for him.
To be honest I'd be happy if he stayed or if he went for a decent price BUT...

Comparing people who think we should sell him to Archer and Bellotti is disgusting. Peolple are entitled to an opinion on a player without being likened to scum of the earth.

its clear to a blind man that he's off. You dont have this many rumours and delay a contract if you intend to stay. I reckon it'll take a truck load of cash to make him change his/his agents mind and we all know that any money needs to be spent elsewhere even if it was available.

I dont blame him for wanting to go to the Premiership, every footballer wants to play at the highest level. I dont think he's good enough right now, and it may turn out to be a mistake. But then it might be a brilliant move, so good luck to him.
