Good job we sowed up the championship weeks ago - we've been in relegation form since then! Glad Walsall are staying up - I thought they made the effort to make it a good day out for us up there when we won it - extra seats, friendly stewards, etc.

 PA chap even read the Palace half time score out twice because they were losing

CHAMPIONS - Have now left the building and will resume after a - no doubt- massive re-group, and continue their Triumphant charge to inevitable GLORY. Thanks for the best of times this season and bring on Gus' plan for the Championship. I can't wait. It's a very exciting time to be an Albion fan (finally).

probably cos barnes does it all the time lol he could honestly be on thirty or more if hed put all his clear chances away lol

The same can be said for Murray, but when he heads one miles over the bar, when he screws a shot wide, misses a kick, or when his good chance is matched by an equally good or better save from the goal keeper (as many of Barnes 'clear chances' were) he doesn't get these comments.

Not sure of his goals to games played ratio, but I believe Barnesy can't be far different from Muzz? - or better?

Shots (goals)
Murray 103 (22) - 1 goal every 4.68 shots
Barnes 93 (20) - 1 goal every 4.65 shots
Wood 70 (10) - 1 goal every 7 shots
Sandaza 17 (5) - 1 goal every 3.4 shots

Games
Murray 45 (5) - 50apps
Barnes 38 (11) - 49apps
Wood - 24 (7) - 31apps
Sandaza - 4 (15) - 19apps

Its was all sewn up at Walsall , no need to over exert themselves.

I would liken our season to Usain Bolt in the 100 metres; blasting clear of the pack and coasting over the final 10, with the rest still pushing hard for the minor places.

However hard we may have been trying to beat SCC and Huddersfield, psychologically the desire to win would have been different if there had been something to play for.

Great effort by the travelling fans today, some excellent fancy dress outfits. The massed rendition of 'God Save the Queen' when Her Majesty (was that our Edna?) went walkabout at half time was hilarious. On the pitch we made a strong start and scored a cracking goal. Looked like we might give them a pasting but too many sloppy balls (not helped by a poor pitch) and some poor decisions by the officials meant we lost momentum and then gifted them a soft goal.

I agree with the earlier comments about the stewarding after the final whistle but was disappointed there was no attempt to protect our players from their fans.

The disappointing results in the last last two or three games may be a blessing in disguise as it underlines the areas where we need to strengthen the squad. Teams are learning how to push up and press onto us and it won't be easier in the Championship.

Overall a brilliant season, thanks to all. So much to look forward to come August.
