I don't think we'll get rid of him for some of the reasons you've stated, but at what point mid season do you say enough is enough?They would not sack a manager with the team 9th in the table and in no danger. For a number of reasons:
1) Any appointment would need to be long term. The squad does not need an interim manager.
2) It sends a message to potential suitors that the club has ideas above it's station and is prone to knee jerk decision making
3) It is unlikely that prime options are available
4) The club would lose a lot of credibility.
Stats and results aside, something doesn't feel right at the moment and if that's the case you need to call it a day. The club have built up an incredible reputation and one mid season sacking won't change that given the results. There is more than enough justification.
The only issue as you've said is who you bring in.
