And there lies the problem going east after the game, if people got on the first train out and change at Lewes it clears the platform for those on the ramp. Those going to Seaford etc will then catch the train the would have anyway when it gets to Lewes and those going to Eastbourne etc get the chance of a connection on the London line.

Whilst most of the details are factually correct, the constant negatives throughout the article result in it having a poor tone. Even the padded seats were dismissed because no away fans sit anymore, just one example, being indicative of the negative tone.

Of course not - they put their stadium in the best place they could, same as us. St Marys is still a disgusting, toilet of an area though.

What village are you in now? Luckily I spend most of my time in Winchester these days but I had to work in the centre of Southampton for 3 months last year and it really is grim nowadays.

Blimey you must know a secret long way round to walk to Falmer Station. I never leave before the end and from WSU I have never taken an hour to get back to Brighton, even during RMT strikes. Everton last Sunday, our record AMEX crowd, I queued for 20 mins...

Normally use P&R, but when I have got the train from Lewes I've always had issues getting to the platform. If this is because people already there are picking and choosing their trains, then that should be easily resolved shouldn't it? Stewards just tell them to get on. No argument - change at Lewes if needs be.

Hardly in the middle of things though is it. Its on a shabby industrial estate on the EDGE of town I suppose, if you're going to nitpick.

It doesn't seem to matter how much travel advice the club put out before the game. People are still going to expect to be away in minutes but that's never going to happen except for the early leavers. If you don't like queuing just hang back for 30 minutes and you will walk straight on to most P&R buses and the train queue will be greatly reduced too. That will make the time back to central Brighton comparable to most clubs (to their city centres) and better than a fair few. There is nothing too difficult about travel to the Amex (cars excepted)

I don't mind St Mary's or Southampton but I really don't understand why they didn't build a train station for the purpose, considering the railway track runs alongside it. They'd absolutely LOVE their own version of Falmer stadium instead of the walk from St Denys (or the even longer walk from Southampton central). People have always moaned about our accessibility but the fact is that it is far easier to get to and from our stadium than most new builds.

Oh and back in the day when I worked in Southampton, St Mary's was one of the main red light areas in the city. It was a dump. Perfect place for a new football stadium really.

Falmer station isn't controlled by stewards, the railway staff never seem bothered about running it efficiently, for example the amount of times the gate isn't opened once a train has left but delayed so when the next train comes in the platform isn't full so the gate is closed again to leave room still on trains. The only stewards are on the ramp with the job of discouraging non disabled people from using the inside section. When I say disabled, this means children under sixteen, large people, elderly people, anybody who fancies it.

Funny, as that's exactly the sort of area where most old grounds are. Take Bournemouth for example. That high street close to their ground (is that Boscombe? I have no idea), is an absolute dump, full of charity shops, pawnbrokers and dubious looking pubs. I seem to recall seeing it on BBC South Today a few years ago because it was deemed to be Bournemouth's red light district. Maybe the ladies of the night have moved on now, but it doesn't alter the fact that the area isn't great.

Incidentally, who knew there'd be a demand for a red light district in Bournemouth? Viagra sales there must be astronomical.

I now live in Abbotts Ann just outside Andover on the Salisbury Road. Very friendly A
and most of the year quite pretty!

The railway line that runs along side the stadium isn't the main line though, it's just for the docks!

Easily said when not picking up the bill. And it wouldn't be two toilets would it? Just trust their expertise in the matter is greater than yours. Or at least invest some time listening to what the club said if that interested.
