So how would I go about it for the future? Few other teams quite near too. Now I'm retired with time on my hands would be nice to be able to go to a match at short notice.

Go League 1 or 2, or non-league. Fat chance in the PL without loyalty points, membership, smart phone etc. - or find a friend with a season ticket he doesn't mind losing if you're caught using it.
