Well clearly something isn't allowed, that's why people are being thrown out and it's probable they are being thrown out because of the standing, though it could be that they were being abusive - it's hard to know.

A few of us at the back of the NS have been moved back a row to a seat without seat in place. Stewards came up, the situation was explained and they said no problem but their supervisor wouldn't like it. Anyway they went on to say that they are cracking down 'today' on standing.

Whatever they do they should be consistent at least.

Seem to me from reading what has been posted exactly the same thing happened today that happened at the Bristol City game, a certain fan, maybe easy picking, was pick upon and will suffer a banning order to discourage others. We all know the next home game 100% of the North Stand will be standing for all 90 minutes because of the game that it is.

All season the stewards have chosen the "Category C" games to flex their muscles and stamp their authority on the stand.

N1D (formerly N1A) got off lightly today it seems, the first batch of stewards appeared after 10 minutes and those in the far block near the new seats DID sit down when asked, 4 stewards then decided to stand in the aisle right in front of me so I had no choice to stand to see the game. Problem is the stewards concentrate on those near to the aisles and ignore many of those in the centre block away from the aisles.

Anyway, the answer is simple, and has been effective for the majority of games recently, when the stewards ask you to sit down, you sit down. Then after a few minutes the stewards usually leave and the next piece of action the natural reaction is to stand and then remain standing. The stewards have done their jobs and leave the crowd alone of the rest of the match.

There is no excuse now for anybody in the back 15-20 rows who wish to sit for 90 minutes, they had plenty of chance to move to a part of the ground where they can sit comfortably at the same price in the south stand.

Firstly, apologies for my probable disjointed ramblings I am about to post, but having read through 13 pages of this, my brain is a little fazed. The way I see it, both 'sides' of the 'sitting/following rules/regs' and the 'standers' each make valid points. However, I have to go with my gut and say that my loyalty lies with the 'standers'. I really see no need (as has been pointed out by several previous posts) for anyone who wants to remain sitting/follow rules etc. to buy a seat in the North Stand.
Going back to the Goldstone days - yes, I know times were different, blah blah blah... If you wanted a 'quieter' time, you went in the West or the East and those that wanted to participate in the, lets say 'more emotional' section, went in the North. I was one of those too, having been in all other areas of the ground, and found the atmosphere was undeniably better. Sadly, those times have gone and I find it difficult to conjure up the feelings that those times created by sitting down - even though I am of an age where sitting should be preferable.
It's the same with gigs - I deliberately (and probably to my loss) avoid going to one where there is no standing area....seated just doesn't cut it with me, so I tend not to bother.
I fully endorse what Captain Sensible has posted, and is a fact that little 'unofficial' protests can and DO make a difference. That said, of course follow the proper procedures like writing letters etc. but sometimes a little more is needed to make the decision makers sit up and take notice. With a little support on both sides, I'm sure that a compromise will be reached eventually, but those of you saying 'just shut up and sit down' are really not helping the situation.
And to try to compare a football match with cinema/ theatre? That was just a wind-up...right?

If you breach a contract then you are in breach of contract law, the majority of which can be found in common law as opposed to any statutes.
