That is a lot easier said than done.

I was planning on getting a season ticket, but I now do not believe it to be affordable due to the lack of student/U21 tickets.

I have been doing it for the last two years. If you want to go to football as a student you have to make some sacrifices but it is affordable.

Out of interest, what was the student/U21 rate at Withdean?

Well they haven't done a student ticket before only under 21's so I will be very bitter if they introduce one now, when I am no longer a student! But to be honest it is so cheap, any student can afford £395 especially if you can pay monthly.

Typical v. reasonable prices IMO and all the students are whinging already, I bet they are paying more a year for their mobile phones, well in life you have to make choices

Can we stop all this nonsense talk about student prices. The Albion have not offered a student price ever! Speaking as a mature student I have had to pay full whack for the last two years despite being a student. Why should under 21s get a reduced price? They are as likely to be in work as anyone else. If there was to be a reduced rate it should be for students only, not under 21s.

That being said as a student you get a loan of around £1500 every three months. If you assign your season ticket money out of your last loan check you will be fine. Then get a job to make up the short fall. I have found whilst a student affording football is easier because you get a lump sum of cash. So students get a job and stop moaning, under 21s who are not students just be grateful that for some reason the Albion have gifted you cheap season tickets for the last few years.

I think U21's need to see it as more like they've had half price tickets for the past years, rather than the new tickets being double. Would be nice to think the club could adopt some socialist ideology in its ticket pricing, but that's not really a reality is it?

Well, if it's only the students that are f***ed off, then it's good going by the club (not that fact it's the students who are f***ed off BTW). But after the recent postings (rantings) on here, the doom mongers and nay sayers who were predicting unaffordable prices, expensive payment terms etc, it's great that the overwhelming response to this is positive. Students won't be students forever, but at £395, forgoing half a pint/portion of chips a day and you'll be able to afford to buy one easily, (or take it straight out of your student loan, you'll possibly never have to pay for it).

But it's not just Students that will be paying more than double. It's anyone aged 18-21.

The prices for Adults seem very fair - but would you be happy if your ST had just gone up bt two and a half times?

That's what I said.

Never mind the ticket prices, will there be adequate numbers of forks?

The cheapest U21 ticket in the East Stand was/is £124, South Stand £144.

I can see why if your 19-20 why you would be upset, but I think you have to see it as you've had greatly discounted tickets rather than the new ones being twice as much. You are adults at 18 after all.

If you are 18 you are an adult. You can drink, drive, vote and work. Therefore you should pay the same price as those over 21. I see the argument for student tickets and it saves me a fair amount on away tickets as many clubs do still offer student tickets. However, Falmer will virtually sell out so the club do not need to encourage students at a lower price, it is simple economics.

unfortunately the club was never going to make everybody happy, and to be fair the u21 prices at withers was pretty unique and probably designed to get more bums on seats and get the interest of some of the "lost" generation of our fanbase. Do you get concessions anywhere else for u21 (as opposed to student rates)?

Oh for gods sake do you "students" not understand economics

WITHDEAN = SHITHOLE therefore club makes more offers to get more fans in to fill seats which would otherwise be empty
AMEX = PROPER STADIUM therefore club does not need to make more offers as there will be less empty seats

I see that there are further student protests taking place today - the same day that the Albion release season ticket pricing? Coincidence?

£1 a day for a season ticket. That's 1 less beer every 3 days. I guess students are just going to have to make such a sacrifice, poor things.

No I would not, and as I said in my original comment, I thought this wes reffering to students only, didn't realise we were talking about young adults as well.

It was NEVER a Student Ticket.

An Under 21 at Withdean is £150

Bloody hell, that was an amazing price, how come there weren't more U21s at Withdean, at those prices, and considering the furore on here about this, the place should have been filled with 18-21s, every week.

The cheapest U21 ticket in the East Stand was/is £124, South Stand £144.

Agree with that, FFS, not only have I been subsidising students at university for the past 25 years but now I find out I have been subsidising them, and young adults, to watch the Albion for the past 11 seasons.

18-21? Want to watch football? Then pay your way, if you cant, then sorry, that is bad luck, but it isn't the clubs fault. I have to work, earn money, and pay for my ticket, why should you be any different? If you're a student, like others have said, take it out of your student loan, many of you will never have to pay for it, so you'll be getting it for less than us anyway.

Ah but at Student Union prices it is more like 1 less beer every 2 days. Which is clearly an unacceptable sacrifice. :jester:
