I had a booking for Saturday evening post match munchies at a Senegalese restaurant down the bottom of Trafalgar St,... we thought it was something different.... it was, the bloody chef has gone on holiday it seems, reservation cancelled.....

Can anyone recommend a decent alternative in the North Laine area, something a bit out of the ordinary... not really interested in chain restaurants.... I am sure some of the NSC gourmet community can come up with some interesting ideas.

Is this the one at the bottom of Trafalgar Street? I have attempted to go there 3 times in its listed open hours, and it has been closed.

Anyway I'd recommend La Choza good Mexican Food.

It is yes, originally I had a personal response to the booking,... so all seemed 'kosher'....sadly it's a no go today....

I noted that Mexican,... thanks, will have a closer look.

Another vote for La Choza, lovely stuff.

Also, I really like Solera, Spanish food, Sydney Street.

Just slightly further afield, Planet India in Richmond Parade is brilliant.

Manju's, two doors along from the Senegalese place, is excellent. It does get booked pretty quickly though. I like Solera, been there a couple of times, but then I do like tapas places.

Oshio just over the road is very good.

Another vote here for Planet India. About as far away from a chain as you can get. Watch out for the black chickpeas.

I think we are going to loiter in North Laine for the duration, have sent a message to Solera but it's short notice.... cheers for the suggestions all.

The Mexican is high on the list too, but you can't book.

The arse end of Hangleton
Another vote for Solera in Sydney Street (y)
And an other vote. It's even better in the summer sunshine when you can sit outside and just watch the world go by with some tapas and wine.
