The lie from Baker that really winds me up is his statement that you can walk from Brighton Station to Sheepcote Valley in 25 minutes - if you're a Royal Marine on a yomp possibly, not if you're a normal averagely fit football supporter !

The point is though that repeated polls/surveys/whatever showed that within his constituency, the majority of those asked/who replied were in favour of the stadium.

His job is to represent the views of the majority, but he chose to represent the view of the vocal NIMBYs of the town of Lewes itself because he knows they will vote him a seat on the gravy train from now until the end of time if he wants it.

How many live in Falmer (or for that matter, Lewes)? His constituents live in Peacehaven, Newhaven and Seaford too. Remember when LDC wanted to fight the error in the paperwork and go back to a second (& third) enquiry? 5,000 signatures were collected in his constituency against fighting it, collected in just a few days. He should listen to ALL his constituents, not just his select dinner party cronies.

Not strictly true.

Peacehaven, Telscombe Cliffs and East Saltdean are in the Lewes District Council area, but are part of Brighton Kemptown constituency for parliamentary elections.

And Alfriston (and surrounding villages), East Dean and Polegate are in the Wealden District Council area, but are in the Lewes parliamentary constituency.
