Normal service will have been fully resumed when this random thread turns into one slagging off Solly, like all the others.

Edit - Silly me why would I doubt NSC.

As you were, normal service has indeed resumed.

In a side not known for free scoring, we have to take clear chances. Last week, Solly missed a sitter, set up on a plate for him. Yesterday, he missed our one clear chance. Both misses were disappointing. They showed a lack of composure. Frankly, they were both poor efforts. Solly is one footed ( no bad thing if you are talented with that foot ) but his cross from the right yesterday, with his right foot, with men up in support, that sailed into the crowd, was not good enough.
Saying that, Solly worked as hard as anybody yesterday. His link play was good at times. At West Ham, he helped to change the game. It was a cameo to be enjoyed. It wants all of us to see more but given the opportunity, he then, doesn't take it. After all these seasons,we still don't know if he possesses the quality to really step up at this level. He is an enigma. It stops him being a regular in the side. He doesn't go past men enough and drive into the box. He checks back too much and he is not a goalscorer ( not the only one, I agree ) but on rare occasions, he can be a match changer. That is why fans get frustrated with him. They see the potential and then they see the frailty.
We want to see Solly assert himself and take games by the scruff of the neck. Not be a part-time fringe player, who flits in and out of the manager's plans.

....but we've been saying that for about 5 years now.

I think more than half of the teams in this league would have been happy with that point, and more than a good few would have been happy with that performance.

So many unrealistic punters on here.

Of course, and all would be very happy with beating Spurs 3-0 and Arsenal 2-1 at Emirates. They might be less happy losing 2-1 at Villa, 1-0 at home to Palace and Southampton. Need I go on? A season is a portfolio otherwise we would be champions having recorded a 6-0 better result than Liverpool at Vicarage Road. The portfolio says 6 wins, 11 draws, 12 defeats. Not so great.

Is it so unrealistic to aspire to be in the space that Sheff U, Leicester, Wolves (and, yes, Crystal Palace even) occupy?
