How can clubs not get in trouble for tapping up players!! It seems we all knew this was going to happen a month ago!

Why is it tapping up. How do you know the club didn't get permission from Plymouth to talk to him first. The transfer window merely is when you can sign players from other clubs, it doesn't mean that outside the window you can't enter into negotiations with clubs or players.

Timbo - is it possible that we approached Plymouth when they were deep in trouble and asked permission to speak to the player? Do you know that we did not? Maybe we offered them a fair price for the player and agreed to commit to that at a time when they really needed to show, shall we say, the Revenue, that they could generate the funds through player sales to clear their debt. Perhaps this guaranteed funding helped them get the hearing moved back to february?

Just guessing of course.

And he's a real looker! Gonna give Inago a run for his money with the laaaadies
Perhaps we should sign Rob Earnshaw as well and scare the opposition into submission.

Some on the Plymouth forum has suggested he's on his way up here for a medical, suggesting personal terms are already sorted. Excited.

It does seem that terms have already been agreed doesn't it? Clubs don't just post these sorts of things until they are pretty much done deals. As you say, it's probably just a medical which is just a formality these days.

I have a feeling this was the player we tried to get on loan in November with a view to purchasing in January. If that is the case contact has been ongoing for a month or two between both clubs.

Thats what i was thinking. Although a rumour, Frutos (if i remember correctly) stated that his mate had spoken to Noone and was told he'd be signing for us in January, and the amount Gus has spoken about him suggests its all a done deal, which just needs finalising. As you say, a medical SHOULD be a formality.
Fingers crossed.

will people be disappointed if he is the special one?

Slightly, I had a rotting Premiership winger/striker in mind. Someone who has been there and done it but not getting a break at the moment.
Noone does sound good but you cannot class him as a 'special one' until he has proved himself at the highest level.
