Went to Border Wanderers v Upper Beeding Reserves West Sussex Division 3 North:

Rites of passage for Mini as first adult game and they drew 2-2, had a disallowed goal for no apparent reason and were unlucky to lose.

Oh and he got his first ever yellow card as well for being harshly judged as kicking out when he flicked his leg back when he missed the ball.

Upper Beeding Reserves had 8 x U18s playing due to a stag weekend in Ibiza !

Went to Newhaven v Greenwich Borough in the FA Vase - a 6-2 win for Greenwich. Two penalties in the first 10 minutes, haven went 2-1 up but collapsed in second half due to some very slack defending. Former league players Gary Borrowdale and Gary Alexander turned out for Greenwich. Top entertainment

Truro City 3 Hitchin Town 0. Southern League.

Big Barry Hayles up front for Truro. £11 to get in and beer during the game. Hitchin were dreadful and Truro could and probably should've run up a cricket score.

I enjoyed it.

Histon 0 Hereford 0. Pretty dire, if I'm honest. Hereford will feel the more hard done by - 2 shots hit the post and "The Stutes"' keeper made three good saves - one a complete worldy, (which is three more than Stockdale has - hush my mouth)

Former league players Gary Borrowdale ..
100 appearances for Palace before the age of 22. Young player of the year, too.

Seven years later, he's playing for Greeenwich Borough... Part of Slade's great escape squad...

Football's a harsh mistress.

Sutton United 1 - 1 Concord Rangers
View attachment 58292

Quiet first half with few chances bar a Rangers attempt cleared off the line by Sutton Captain Charlie Clough.

10 minutes into the second half Rangers took the lead with a fine strike by Jordan Cheidozi, and 5 minutes later United's No 8 (Ricky Wellard I think) was dismissed for a bad foul. Despite losing him Sutton looked more likely to score due to the introduction at half time of Rwandan international Jessy Reindorf who proved handful for the Rangers defence and who scored on 65 minutes, rolling the ball past Rangers Keeper Jamie Butler. The remainder of the game was lively with Alan Julian in the Sutton goal making two fine fingertip saves to deny the Canvey Islanders.

Honours even at full time, probably a fair result. Reindorf was MOTM, Attendance 628, a fiver to get in on non-league saturday for league STH's. Nice little ground, nice to be so close to the play and have freedom of movement.

CORRECTION, dismissed player was Glen Southam.

Peacehaven 1 Bury 0 Fast paced good football great winning goal, players tired as game went on. Biggest difference was speed of game, few stoppages no rolling around no fifteen passes across the back line.

Glad Peacehaven won. They really needed that, hopefully they'll kick on now.

What offence did the ref give it for? Surely it has to be a red or nothing, if he's alleging violent conduct?

Offence was deemed as kicking out.

The strange thing is the game was not stopped he was spoken to when it did and referee said had he made contact it would have been red.

The opposition player said he felt no contact and told the referee it was non-intentional.

Burgess Hill
Any news on Burgess Hill !!!

Burgess Hill 3 East Grinstead 1

All the goals came in the first half with Rob O'Toole putting Hill one up before Pat Harding lashed in a second from close range. Grinstead pulled one back before Harding was quickest to react when the ball bounced off Grinstead keeper Christie and notched again from close range. The second half was more even with Josh James in the Hill goal making a couple of important saves at crucial times while at the other end, Christie denied Harding a deserved hat trick with a smart stop at his near post.

9 unbeaten now for Hill who have gone 2 points clear at the top of Ryman Div 1 South. Eye catching performances from skipper Darren Budd, Harding and Greg Luer (in the first half). Loads of the Hill team have graduated through Ashley Carr's youth set up and, apart from a dodgy 10 minute spell in the first half, they ran out worthy winners.

Crowd of 717 (previous best this season was 248) included The Rev who, yet again, ponced a cafe creme!

Is the correct answer

Local lads who play for pleasure and a few extra quid, not like their professional brethren who spit the dummy for not getting a birthday card, or can't be bothered to put in performances, as they know they might be going up a league soon

Pro football has become nothing more than an unfunny circus

Raynes Park Vale 2 - 1 Crowborough. Not quite sure how Crowborough lost this one to be fair. Better footballing side throughout and 1 up after 25 mins. RPV had a strong finish to the first half. Second half RPV went down to 10 early on mainly due to an awful official. RPV got an equaliser which prompted the Crows into pushing forward in droves only to be caught by a sucker punch with literally the last kick of the game. Looked offside but wasn't given....lad squared it for another lad to slot into an empty net.

Funny old game ain't it Saint!
