I was about 11/12 got the bus from E/G to Three Bridges (Thank-you Dr Beeching) and watched Roger Prideaux defeat some other club on his own.

I may be wrong but I believe they've relaxed the rule slightly this season in that you can have a designated drinking area.
Crowborough AFC Croydon Athletic for me. Any Albion season ticket holders fancy coming along....bring your season ticket and you'll get in for a fiver.
I went to the Newhaven v Eastbourne United match and the barman was telling people not to take drinks outside the clubhouse, I knew about the rule from watching Whitehawk, but some fans at the Newhaven game seemed a bit confused.
Don't know about a designated drinking area, suppose a club has to have room for this, good idea because even at Newhaven with a small crowd the clubhouse was rammed at half time.

Great bar, take your beers to the stand/terrace, £5 to get in with your Albion ST, change ends at half time, comfy seats in the stand, noisy terrace behind the goal, cracking burgers and other grub, and you might even get to meet the likes of Tommy Elphick and other Albion past players, and even a chance to chat with the original Harty. If you have your kids with you, they can all go on the pitch at the end and have a kick about. How hard is that to sell?

That's always been the case at Crowborough for FA Cup and FA Vase games....however this season for our FA cup game we had an area maybe 10ft either side of the bar where you could drink in view of the pitch. They are very much a stickler for the rules up there so I assumed the rules had been relaxed. As I said I may be wrong and might have just dropped them in it. That said I've been plenty of places over the years where clubs simply didn't care and just flaunted it anyway.
Daft really as for a lot of small clubs the bar is their biggest revenue generator. I appreciate the rules have to be the same for all clubs all the way through the competition but why the FA can't use the same rules they do for the league system (i.e. free to drink at all non regulated games) is beyond me.
