I have just sent an e mail to FL asking how they expect fans to get to the game and pointing out that is common knowledge that we only got permission to build The Amex because of our agreement to use public transport. Will print the reply if I get one.

I'm sorry BG, but what do you expect them to do ? It is our problem to sort, not the FL's!

Sure it was not to many years ago that BR, as it was, ran a service on Boxing Day, although not even as much as a Sunday service it was at least a service.

Ernest cannot remember it but I am sure I am not alone in remembering when there was a service o Boxing Day and going back even further we played games at 11.00am on Christmas Day and I feel sure that I would have gone from Worthing to Hove by train but cant remember one way or the other.

It is ultimately their problem as they should have given us an away game knowing the circumstances ie reversed the 2 Millwall fixtures.

How would you expect the club to sort it out without co-operation from the FL.

Not really, else you get all clubs coming up with excuses. Clubs do get to request changes, but I think we use these up, for Pride.

That is for 1 game and possibly police insistence that there be no bank holiday home games. Just a thought isnt Boxing Day a bank holiday so the police could refuse to allow it to go ahead, then the FL would be forced to re arrange it..

They already gave us away games because of Pride and the Lib Dem conference, they can't meet every request.
I'm quite happy to walk 7 or 8 miles there and back from my house, maybe further if I take a detour to a pub in town.
It's bollox if we can never have a home game on Boxing Day again.

And Lewes bonfire night.

How is this supposed to help?

As far as I can see, your e-mail will be based on nothing more than rumour/speculation on NSC to the effect that it is the Football League's "fault".

That is fine but there are many like myself who couldn't begin to walk that sort of distance and there are many that live more than 10 miles from the ground. Provided all parking restrictions were lifted from say Mithras House going north I would drive park and walk. If all was well I could possibly walk from Lewes Rd/Coldean Lane given the time but where can I park near there. The obvious answer is make our fixtures on 27th Dec if no transport but that cant be this year as we are on TV on 29th.

I think people are jumping the gun somewhat. I'm positive it will be on and the club would have announced already if it was going to be moved.

Ah, I knew teams are only permitted 2 home/away fixture requests, and knew one of ours was Pride, but was struggling with what the second was.

I'm sure seagulls travel will still be running its coaches, but you'll need to book as soon as they advertise this game.

Sorry Lord you are wrong

I have asked them how they expect supporters to get to the game with no public transport when it is widely known that we only got planning permission by agreeing to use public transport. So it could be said that if there is a fault it s with B & H Counci and the bus and train companies. There is very little the club can do once the fixtures has been made

I appreciate that there are some people who can't walk that far, but I'd imagine that at least 50% of the crowd are capable of it (if they CBA is another question). Even if you can't park that close you could park near a pub and ring a taxi or park near a bus stop. As Blue Valkyrie says you could always book with Seagulls Travel or Mid Sussex Seagulls.
They should definitely ease parking restrictions to help out the situation though.

There haven't been trains apart from a skeleton service on the Brighton to London line (and that hasn't run every year) for over 40 years if not longer on Boxing Day and until recently the same with buses and this is the same for other clubs in other parts of the country in respect of their trains and buses.

If you really want to go on Boxing Day you'll get there one way or another, I know I will.

The other was probably being away first game to allow building work some more time

Don' talk out of your fanny about things you know nothing about, if Southern wished to run a service on Christmas Day let alone Boxing Day then staff are contractually obliged to work albeit for triple time. If the club came to an agreement to pay the costs for a railway service on Boxing Day then one would be running, staffing isn't an issue as long as contracted terms are met and staff can't refuse to work on the day. It is all down to the club paying Network Rail and Southern the money needed to run an acceptable level of service.

Then what i have been told in the past is totally wrong - ignore i ever said that. I need to get a better SAUCE.

We were away first game so we would have been away on pride weekend - wouldnt usually happen as Pride was late this year.

The problem is the fixtures come out too late to start arranging Pride Mid June. There is a simple answer scrap Pride but that will upset a few. I will get to the game by driving and parking somewhere the problem will be if the removal/ tow away men are out on that day. It would help if the council suspend parking regulations from 12 to 6 on that day.

As i said, Pride was different this year. It was later (maybe due to the Olympics - not sure) so we wouldnt normally have this problem as its usually the first weekend of August. I think it only started to be organised in June as a new organiser took it over - hope someone can correct me if im wrong.

Pride wouldnt be scrapped for a soccerball game.
