Well I haven't seen this type thread before. Anyway I remember looking this up years ago in the Guiness book of Hit Singles (I think) and it was "Yes tonight Josephine" by Johnny Ray. That site however tells me it was "Gamblin' Man / Putting on the Style" by Lonnie Donnegan.

Anyway both sound rubbish.
