Without some new players, we will not finish above the relegation zone... The league is stronger than last time and we are weaker.

If the league is stronger how come Stoke finished higher?

We are not going in unprepared this time. Most of our players have now had 1st division experience.

I remember Charlie Oatway doing a brilliant job on Merson to keep bim out of the Pompey game at Withdean.

I remember Jones getting the goal of the season at Forest and Mayo getting runner up to player of the year.

Of course we shall get some loans in but don't write off the squad we already have.

well some of them struggled at div2 level and are shadows of their formers selfs....e.g:Mayo

the side that almost kept us up has long since moved on.

I reckon if Mayo got a game (eg Harding was injured) then he would play very well.

Whenever Kerry has been dropped he always comes back well because he has a place to fight for.

Some of the side has gone to other clubs but we still have the backbone of it here.

The Championship is far stronger than div one last time round... just look at the teams involved...

The reason Stoke finished higher was because they invested in their squad...

We must do likewise or we will be straight back down...

Jones had a poor season in div one... one swallow does not a summer make and all that... hence Brooker correctly winning the battle for the left-wing spot that year...

Charlie in the Championship - don't make me laugh...

Mayo... well his best games came as a central defender, where he had two other good players to cover his obvious shortcommings, e.g. lack of pace... Harding is our left-back and long may it continue...

You're right about one thing... we need to prepare... this includes acquiring / bedding-in the 4 new players MM promised us b4 he went on his hols...

He knows we need to strengthen, and he isn't wrong!!...

Sorry to be doom and gloom but we must invest in players otherwise it will be a terrible struggle.

I think we need players but I reckon we're leaving it late to give ourselves a stronger bargaining position.

Players who haven't been picked up will just want to get a club, and we might be able to attract better quality than if we'd dived in straight after the end of the season.

Means we get last pick but, with no money, what can you do?
