Fortunately I'll be getting on much further up the line at Etchingham

Your testimony does prove one thing though, despite being slower, having the Uckfield to Lewes line as a diversionary route as opposed to the damned buses WOULD be popular.

In the NR report on the line reopening, they said that the the disruption caused to the Brighton Main Line by the Brighton to Three Bridges closures were minimal...

Rail replacement buses were a joke, a good 50 of us were left at Preston Park for a good 45 minutes, while some were there for even more.

One thing about the rail replacement buses though is that it makes the journey cheaper. Using todays example you only need to buy a ticket for the journey north of Three Bridges as you NEVER get your ticket checked before and the RR bus drivers don't give a toss.

Abort, retry, fail
I had to get a replacement between Barnes and CJ and HH to PP. Very frustrating that you have to wait for the whole bus to fill up and the staff that are running the show are generally quite rude as they are obviously being asked silly questions all day long. All in all, a bit of a disastrous trip and back to sit in the rain and watch us throw away two points.

Popular maybe, but so would putting all the customers in helicopters and ferrying them up to Gatwick. Would be a darn sight cheaper than reopening the Lewes to Uckfield line.
