No thread about Motherwell?

It seems no-one has mentioned Motherwell's humiliating loss in the UEFA Cup on Thursday, going down 1-0 at home to Llanelli in the first leg.

Was it because:

a) Mark McGhee left
b) Jim Gannon took over
c) Because they've lost their best goalie, or
d) All of the above

'Well?

'Well only have 10 so called 1st team players, 4-5 of whom are teenagers.

Quinn, Clarkson, Malcolm (absolutely no loss), Hughes, Buzz, Sherriden, Klimpl and McLean are all no longer with the club. They operated one of the smallest 1st team squads last season, and simply couldn't handle loosing the mainstays of last seasons squad.

Last night's team was not far off the fringe players from last season and youngsters. That said - it still should still have been enough, and should be on Thursday in the 2nd leg.

Confucious reigns with the whole Gannon thing - surely he would have been a reasonably hot property down here so why go to a Scottish club with a home attendance that hovers around the 5k mark?

Sounds like a carbon copy of McGhee's tenure after our 1st Championship season. Did your fans also turn on him and call him a clueless lardy rascist Scottish clown as you struggled in his 2nd season, and were you glad to see the back of him??

Especially with his wife's need to remain living in the Greater Manchester area

The language was a bit more colourful, but...

McGhee was a good manager for Motherwell, but the club was just as good for him. He dealt with the death of Phil O'Donnell magnificantly, and really galvanised the club. Completely failed to sign anyone (sorry, fat Bob Malcolm does not count), and the fans were split down the middle - largely due to his professed desire to replace Strachan at Celtic.

Am not sure who his (in)famous contacts are, but they did not produce for Brighton, Motherwell, and apparently they are still out there looking for Aberdeen.

He may have shafted himself though - Aberdeen appear to have less money than Motherwell, albeit they definitely have more players.

In 3 days at the club, Gannon has actually signed someone which may not sound like much, but...

Yeh, found that interesting also! Mind you, McGhee kept his family in Brighton whilst managing Motherwell.

Still, don't see why Brighton should be unhappy that we have Slade, and don't see why Motherwell should be unhappy with Gannon (now that McGhee has followed his heart to Celtic, sorry - freudian slip, Aberdeen).
