No sign of the promised striker

We've got enough strikers wether they score or not and nothing's guaranteed if splashing out...No point spending millions and having other high earner strikers doing nothing.
If we fail this season then we can sell the flops and focus on quality next season.

Boro or Derby will snap him up surely?

Boro have already got four strikers of a similiar ilk: Stuani, Kike, Nugent, Adomah.

Derby haven't though. Just got Martin and Bent.
Hull have Hernandez only? Diomandé and Akpom might not be quite so good?

We have Wilson (not ours), Zamora (ageing) and Hemed (not as quick?). Two are set with us this season making a striker more of a priority in summer. But Zamora and Wilson could both pick up an injury right at the last knockings.

And the two strikers they've signed this window: Blackman & Camara

Forgot about Blackman (gamble). Camara is meant to be their missing winger.

Not like for like with Martin and Bent though.

Does show our rivals see the need for an extra striker. And this may be important in the play-offs?

Still along way to go before the play-offs. One injury upfront and the wheels (a few dropped points for the lack of a goal) may come off.

Zamora injured and we are fooked

If we are getting a striker from the PL, we'll no doubt have to wait until his replacement is brought in first, ie deadline day.

As for Derby you also forgot Andreas Weimann .... in fact they have so many forwards / strikers Darren Bent cant get into their 18

Forgot him as well. The point is that our rivals are stronger in the striker department in terms of numbers and especially in term of being available for next season, the larger sized players more suited for a lone furrow upfront.

Not sure they are any better in quality this season. Not in experience. With Kayal and Stephens in their early to mid-twenties, I think any new striker would be in the same age group, and from a lower diviison more likely than not, or a player that has not made the grade in the PL.

PS (tangent): Teixeira on the bench for Liverpool tonight.

PS: We are the same odds as Sunderland as being in the PL next season.

And Johnny Russell!

I thought he was more of a winger. Not a target man striker.

And I did not include Baldock in our list of strikers, but he doesn't do striking all that much, not even for a midfielder. And Bladock is menat to be a striker.

And Derby play 4-3-3 which only means one specialist striker. And a second striker (e.g Russell).

I still think of it as little and large, a big striker and a not so big striker.

This is pretty much how I feel. With Lua Lua back, the signings of Knockaert and Sidwell, Bong back soon and Rosenior back not long after we're looking in good shape. Sidwell allows us to keep playing two in the middle without losing any quality which in turn allows Knockaert and Lua Lua to see plenty of the ball which means plenty of service to the front men where hopefully at least one of Wilson and Zamora is on the pitch at all times.

That said, I'd be absolutely delighted if we signed another quality striker. We'd then be in an excellent position to make the top two as opposed to being in with a shout like we are now. So fingers crossed Peter Crouch is unveiled in the next week:rave:

Crouch started for Stoke tonight so I guess that means he won't be coming to us.

Not long now to the end of the window. Looking more and more like a last minute deadline signing - if any. Please no more Dobbie's!

I'm hoping that placing this post will mean some good news very soon!

No chance of signing strikers until we are relegated, it is going to take relegation to wake the board up. The big question is how long will American Express continue to sponsor a 2nd division club with no clear ambition for promotion to the P L
