i dont mind him being in the squad, great to have as a super sub for the last 15 minutes. but for the first team we need players who are more than one trick. that pin point passing makes England very one dimensional and easy to defend against in open play. for a while he looked like he might become a more rounded player, but he just cant tackle well enough to play in the CM and we have enough attacking midfield options or RB which is open to takers, and id rather see Lennon, WrightPhilips or Walcott attacking the wing.

hmm. I can't quite work out if this is tongue in cheek or not. This line doesn't help:- that pin point passing makes England very one dimensional and easy to defend against in open play.
But taking it on face value you'd rather have 'no trick ponies' over a 1 trick pony.
You also forgot to mention Bentley, obviously the rightful heir to Becks. :lol:

As an aside Beo, you need to add 'adpotive gayers' to your sig.

not at all tounge in cheek. when Beckham plays we move the ball to him and he pumps long diagonal balls onto the edge of the box. their centre backs only have to stand around there to defend without really being challenged much. it also allows their full back to press up or cover too easily as Beckham doesnt get far enough fowrad and the diagonal balls draw our left winger inside (not that they've needed much encouragement).

this is why against quite average to crap oppostion we came to rely on Beckham free kicks and corners to actually score. against 10 behind the ball, placing the ball right onto the heads of their centre backs isnt going to do anything other than give away possesion and frustrate us.

good point about Bently. point about the ones i mentioned is that they give you attacking penetration down the wing, scares the shit out of the full back and the CB who have to come out of their comfort zone. this opens the game up and mean we can play our game, fast and counter attacking.

Agreed. Let's not flog the dead horse for too much longer. Why anyone would want ayone other than Walcott and Young on the wings is beyond me........

He's not, he's in Milan - scoring goals for them. The thing is, he must have thought his international days were behind him and probably thought the money on offer in the USA was too good to turn down. Plus, he's married to a "singer" and I suspect they probably concluded together that it was her turn. People forget how she had gone whereever he needed to be for his career.

Funny how Beckham has rehabilitated himself and became fashionable again. You couldn't find a Beckham fan for love nor money a few years ago.
That's simply not true though, is it? After '98 he was singled out for abuse, but since then he's done nothing but work his nuts off for club(s) and country. People criticised Sven for becoming overly dependent on him, but I don't think many people seriously suggested Beckham had nothing to offer. He lacks pace, but he's still probably the best player in the world at set pieces.

Have to say Beckham learnt alot from 98 and has been a credit to the England team for a long while. The press treatment of him after the 2006 World Cup was disgraceful. Anyone who went the games rather than watched them on TV saw a captain who worked his NUTS off every game (as opposed to Fat Frank who sauntered around the park at his leisure) & deserved better. Most of the goals we scored were created by him. The fact that the ruddy-faced clown dropped him was a sign of how shit Mclaren was.

Beckham is worth a place in the England squad, deserves credit for the way he battled back after 98, and has earnt everyone of his caps - which I believe is the latest shit people have against him... he's got too many caps apparently.

Beckham = England Legend

I have been a long term defender of Beckham for that reason. Having been to a few England games abroad you can always see how much he wants to win and how hard he works. He also understands the fans and will be the first one over to say thank for the support at an away game.
You tend to find it's the armchair fans with their tabloid opinions who slag him off.
