[Albion] No more season ticket cards

Me too. However this makes season tickets very easy to transfer/sell to people that you don’t necessarily know that well - ie you can just email them the barcode or QR code. If it was a season ticket app, I imagine that the tech would prevent it being used on more than one phone at a time, a bit like banking apps prevent you accessing the same account on more than one phone.

I would suggest there is zero chance of the club using technology that makes it easier for people to share tickets. In addition to the already established legal implications we will now be living with Covid and its mutations. It becomes even more important that the club knows who is on its premises. I would expect photo ID to be a requirement going forwards.

I don't know why people are so worried, of course there will be an alternative for people without smartphones. You'll be able to get a chip injected with your annual Vaccines

Due to the latest mobile phone security I would guess that today's technology would make it harder to transfer your ticket to a friend or relative, - which I know we're not allowed to do.

If we're doing well or playing high profile sides we will easily sell our unused seats on the exchange.
However, it's unlikely the exchange will even be open for the likes of Burnley, West Brom or Sheffield United. And so, if you can't shift them on to a mate who wants them at face value you'll be losing a lot more money.
If that happens several times a season it makes the cost per game even more expensive, possibly making season ticket holders questioning the affordability.

I would be interested to know if all Premier League clubs season tickets are strictly non-transferable.

Yes, always been the same. Sell out crowds are a fairly recent phenomenon. A decision to buy a ST is a commitment to pay for all home games. The resale exchange is a welcome bonus. The answer to your question is that all football and concert tickets are non resealable but you can transfer Albion tickets using the club as the broker on the ticket exchange.

If it takes them longer to get through a single turnstile then that's the way the cookie crumbles.

.

Why would it take anyone longer to get through a turnstile, all the Amex turnstiles can read the code whether its ST card, paper ticket or phone,

Me using ST card....get card out pocket that’s in the Albion ST wallet when walking up to the turnstile, zap card onto scanning thingy and I’m into the stadium. I can still easily manage this after 5 pints in the pub and 2 bottles on the train.

Me using ticket on phone..... Get phone out of pocket, stop and put on reading glasses, tap in phone passcode, find app ( or whatever stores ticket, accidentally press wrong button on phone and lose app......and repeat :)

This.

You often find exactly the same scenario when people step onto a bus and try to use their phone as payment. They simply aren't prepared, stand there trying to sort out the their phone, whilst the driver, those behind them in the queue, and the passengers on the bus tut away with impatience, holding up the bus, and all those on it.

It was £15 I think to get a replacement ST card when I lost mine a few years back. I reckon they'd do the same with this - if you want a card, it'll cost you a few quid to have one instead.

I'd willingly pay it in all honesty. The card looks good in my wallet too!

I can see the benefits of having the ticket on a smartphone for fans like one of my sons, he’s permanently got his phone in his hand but is probably on issue 10 of his ST card because he’s lost it so many times.
I did offer to superglue his ST card to the back of his phone. :)

As an aside, if I could digitise my driving license, health insurance card and credit cards I wouldn’t have a need for my physical man-purse. I think I’m right in saying I can’t add credit cards to my Apple Pay?

Just spent a few minutes on Google searching. Of the 6 or so clubs I searched on before I got bored none of them allowed transfers, if you couldn't make a match, for regular season tickets. Also got a few results for Championship clubs too and they didn't allow it either.

*EDIT* Just saw your Spurs thread. Didn't search on them!

Don't worry, l'm sure you will be able to digitise almost everthing soon enough.

Unfortunately.

Not sure why you think that - I've had my credit cards in Apple Pay for several years. Rarely use the cards themselves now.

Maybe the Premier and Football Leagues stipulate that this is so? I've no idea.

It's actually the law that football tickets can not be transferred.

(The ticket exchange works because, in effect, the club are authorising the issue of the ticket to a known and named third party)

I'm presuming the anti-ticket touting laws (tickets to football matches can't be resold I believe) means the clubs doing a blanket ban just makes their lives a lot easier as otherwise they have admin overhead in dealing with the requests.
