Didn't see much of him in the Championship season, but he looked a class apart in the televised home match against Palace. Shame if he doesn't feature in DW's plans, particularly if we're not going to get in a new wide player like Bowditch. Much as I have been a great fan of his over the years, I can't really see Hart doing it any more on the right. And Fraser was like a fish out of water there last season.

Frutos is easily the best midfielder in the club on his day. If he is staying at the club and his wages are on the books, he should at least be given a run of 5 games. If him and DW have had a bust up and it is unlikely he will play, why is he still at the club? If we are going to push for the play-offs then we must retain the quality players and Frutos is one of our best.

Maybe Wilkins is anti French? Bertin gone, he hardly played Bakayogo when he was here on loan and now Frutos is missing? ;)

Surely you jest madam?!!
Bertin was brought to the club under Wilkins' management, he was also offered a two year deal by the club this summer.
Bakayogo was injured for the majority of the time that he was here, so Wilkins couldn't have played him if he had wanted to.
I suspect Frutos is missing purely due to the fact that he is not a consistent player for us.

form is temporary, class is permanent

wilkins bleats on about having oatway, reid and hinshlewood back is like signing three players. well, if frutos can rediscover his championship form then it would be like having four new players

anyone who plays the likes of doug loft, tommy fraser and adam el-abd in the midfield instead of someone of frutos talent needs their head examined

I would quite like to know where the club stand on Frutos. Does he have a bad attitude? I wouldn't think so. He seems to be a very personable chap and comes to watch the home matches. You always see him with his family and seems to be happy. He did well for the reserves last season as well. So if it is not about attitude then what is it? Is he a bad trainer? He is possibly the most natural winger we have at the club and with someone like Forster in the box, we could do with some quality balls in.

Give him a run, I say!

Well said.

Puting aside any talk of personal differences between him and Wilkins, we all know that he CAN be a real creative force in this division if given the chance, and surely these kinds of friendlies are exactly the kind of opportunity to get some play under his belt and to hopefully rediscover the form we know he is capable of producing.

Sadly, I suspect that a lot of the reason he didn't play yesterday was because he didn't come through the youth team. Seems to me like, for better or worse, Wilkins has a distinct bias towards former youth teamers.

Yeah run him straight down to Dover and stick him on the first ferry back home if he shows the lacklustre attitude he did last season, I allways thought he was better than carole but he seems to have the same " I'll play when I feel like it " attitude.

frutos was given more than a fair chance last season but wasn't up to it

was not the player we saw the previous season

maybe the club have been trying to off load him but if there's no takers what are they suppose to do

When did Frutos have a consistent run of first team starts last season? How can a player who was in a different class to our other players in the Championship be not up to league 1? Frutos is clearly one of our best players and if given a run of games he will prove it.

Barry Lloyd did the same, still incomprehensible thing, of dropping Dean Saunders for Richard Tiltman. Sometimes your face just doesn't fit and it seems Frutos' doesn't. He's hardly been given an extended run or shown any faith at all by DW. There are probably reasons we are not party to but it seems our manager may just be cutting his nose off to spite his face for whatever reason. Frutos is undoubtably better than many who actually play, I've seen it with my own eyes so do not understand at all why he has been frozen out.

If it was McGhee there would be 10 threads about shit man management by now

Quite, It seems a bit odd that he is even given a run out, maybe he was a mcghee man?

Plenty of out of form players had runs.

I am thinking Robinson, Mayo and others.

I think the best example is Gatting . I have no axe to grind with him and understand that he is being given the chance to transform his youth team feats to the 1st team. Maybe DW is blinded by loyalty to the players he knows, in the same way LLoyd was with his non league players, but it is to the detriment of the Albion imo. History is repeating itself.

How could he possibly show enough to play when he wasn't playing in the first place! Every other player was given a chance except him.

Catch-22 situation.

He wasn't able to show what he is capable of with an extended run because his performances when he did play didn't merit it, but an extended run of first team action may very well have been what he needed to rediscover the spark we saw from him in the Championship.

I can, to an extent, understand why Wilkins wouldn't want to have taken that risk last season, but surely that's precisely what pre-season friendlies such as yesterday's are meant for?

How is the bloke ever supposed to show what he's capable of if Wilkins won't even give him a run-out against the likes of Worthing (no disrespect meant to Worthing)?

A players application in training etc should tell a manager when a player is up for it or not, And when Frutos was given his chance he hardly took it did he? Look back at the West Ham game it was a great chance to show what he could do and show a bit of class but he never took it.
