We played well in the second half tonight for sure and were unlucky to lose. But frankly that happened very many times aunder Adams. Tonight was not so different to many other games where we failed to take advantage of being on top and then defended horribly at key times. We've been doing the same all season. I don't think anyone can say it was much different tonight. And to claim Slade has got us more organised after a couple of days is frankly nonsense.

I witnessed a difference tonight in Slade to Adams.
I thought Slade was going to burst a blood vessel in having a go at both El Abd and Dean White.
El Abd playing at full back dwelt on the ball instead of passing the ball out wide, Slade went ape shit and the next thing he is turning to Dean White screaming at him.
Not sure why he was having a go at White, but at least he showed some passion.

Yup, excellent to see him out on the touchline going mental. He's more impressive than Micky already in that respect.

A statement not supported by our new manager.
His response to tonight was that players have to do their jobs and the defending was poor.

So in his eyes we did not play well, lot of effort but elementry bad defending.

Slade is showing sense. Yes we didn't play too bad but saying we lost because we were unlucky doesn't tell the whole story.
Positionally our defending has been dire all season and there hasn't been a single partnership developed this year, should have been Elphick Virgo from the start...

I think Borrowdale going off was what did it, seeing as both of their goals came down the left wing.

So why would Barrowdale going off do for us when he played left back not right back ?

I think THPP has it right that ,despite their second being a very well taken goal just like at Orient, as a defensive unit we just switched off again.

I'm quite happy with most of our performance tonight as I thought we played some lovely football in the second half and totally dominated for large periods. Ok, we couldn't take our chances, but with Forster coming on tonight and Murray hopefully making an appearance on Saturday, I think the goals will come. But if we still can't concentrate at the back then we are doomed.

Disagree we were more organised tonight and looked like we had some idea of what we were trying to do.

But we deserved to lose, we did not defend well enough and did not take our chances.

Personally I felt we played some of the best football in spells tonight this season.

Funnily enough I said this to someone just earlier today. Oddly enough I think if Adams had started with this combo and stuck with it from the start of the season we would be half way up the table and Adams would still be employed. The not playing Virgo in his best position for most of the time was certainly his most baffling decision.

Spot on

Unfortunately we have a vocal minority that judge a game only by the final score and not by what actually happens in a game, Lose and we were shit, win, even if we played poorly, and we were good. They see everything in black and white when there is a whole spectrum of colour out there.Keep playing like we did tonight, and if the fans keep getting behind the team like they did tonight as well, we will stay up :albion2::albion2:

so if you lose every game but play well your the best team in the world?

sorry but when people look at the table and in years to comeand see bha went down (maybe) there won't be note next to it saying but they played well!!!

Again this thread shows how far our ambition and expectations have come down. Lose away to a relegation rival with a home record almost as bad as ours and lose at home to an ordinary mid table outfit and we are over the Moon. See you in division 4.

Gotta agree with US again here. How can you have NO complaints about he last two games? We're in the relegation zone and we got ZERO points from them?! Are you mad?!

And anyone accusing me of having unrealistic expectations is having a laugh. I've supported the Albion for 20 years and I think my expectations are spot on. I had no complaints about the team when we were down the bottom in the last season at the Goldstone. Our decline had been inevitable with no money, no decent players, no board and the ground sold beneath our feet.

However, we've spent a lot of money this season (relative to the division we're in) and we've picked up a lot of decent players. Even under Adams I think our squad was good enough to do well. We finished 7th last season and sacked our manager. My expectation for this season was that we would push for the play-offs. If this didn't happen I would have accepted mid-table mediocrity. I would have been incredibly disappointed even with a brief flirting with relegation, but THIS debacle is unacceptable.

Results are the only thing that matters now. We are at the business end of the season and that why I am so PISSED off with all this ridiculous praise of Slade as his record is 2 games, 2 losses and he has plunged us far further into the relegation zone so give it a rest and praise him when he actually does something. If Slade reads this he will think " f*** me these BHAFC fans are easily pleased aren't they. It doesn't matter if we go down as I will get no blame. Happy days ".

For the second goal, Southend's no. 9 was left completely unmarked at the back of the area in about twenty yards of space for a good couple of minutes while the action ping-ponged around in front of him. He still had a lot or work to do when the ball finally and inevitably came out to him, and his finish was immaculate. But the goal was preventable with a bit of awareness by the defence. Not so sure about the third, looks to be a goal-line scramble that could have gone either way.

We had enough chances for the 3-1 score to easily have been in our favour, but when things go wrong at the moment, they just seem to keep going wrong. It's cruel, and it's rank bad luck, but sadly it seems to be doing us in.

That's pretty much what Slade said about the 2nd goal, basically the defending was shit! That's not bad luck, it's poor football from poor players. When we were dominating the game, was there one moment when any of our players had that much space and time? Of course not! It's the basics that are the problem, game after game of individual mistakes at both ends of the pitch costing us results. F**k me , they are supposed to be professionals but they never seem to learn and quite honestly, with a couple of exceptions, with this group of players, we really can't expect to be much higher in the league and we wouldn't miss most of them if they left at the end of the season.

or not.

Stick a fork in Joel lynch, he is done. (and got done so many times last season it was embarrassing)

He still keeping a regular place in a Championship team under now two Championship managers. In their win over Swansea he was I am told, man of the match.
Do you not think he would be good enough for a team heading towards division 4?

I don't think anyone has said on this thread that they are over the moon with last nights performance. By comparison to previous home games there was a better spirit in the side and once again, luck was far from on our side. Fact is that if we keep losing we will go down, no one diputes that. But, if our performances improve then the wins will come. Last night we should have gone in 2-1 up but the ref deemed a tackle from behind in the penalty area isn't a penalty. Shame we didn't have the ref from Saturday because the decision against Heath was poor.

If Wing hadn't allowed their player so much space, he wouldn't have got that goal. Could have been so different.

Hopefully by Saturday, Slade will have got to grips with the players and tightened up the defence.
