Ten days before opening day and the poxy rumours appear to be true. The terrestrial TV viewer is facing no baseball on TV this season. BOLLOX.

email from JG today:

Welcome Fellow-Baseball Nuts....... God I'm going to miss saying that.

I'm sure most of you have heard the rumours. Five TV have ended their association with our beloved sport, or at least they have not committed to another season of Baseball on 5 every Wednesday and Sunday night. The rumours have been many and mixed, and I'm sorry that I'm not in a position to fully clarify the situation for you. What I can tell you is that if this is the end, it has been one hell of a ride. Understandably many of our hardcore viewers are pretty pissed off with Five, but rememeber they have made a 12-year committent and for that alone we should all be very grateful.

So what's next? Well first and foremost the movers and the shakers in UK Baseball are still committed to finding a home for Baseball on UK television. There is no guarantee as to when or even if that will happen, but we are committed to keeping the Baseball family intact. To that end we are continuing the Fantasy League this season regardless of whether my Baseball TV career has legs. So get your Fantasy Caps on tilt because it's time to play ball!

For all the details go Fantasy Baseball UK and sign up now.

Baseball - it's a Hardcore thing!!

Terrible news, same with the American Footy, I heard they would show NFL live feed without any studio comments. Perhaps this will happen with the baseball.

No JG and tuxs, you can watch a lot of the highlights of the nfl on their website, is it possible to do this on the baseball sites.

Hell, I can watch selected EPL, Serie A, Argie Top League, Ligue 1, all courtesy of Mr. Murdoch's satellite empire over here (often delayed, and it's not cheap) ... sad to see it's not reciprocal.

You can watch any game at all live online for about £75 per season, but my laptop ain't no TV, and I can't tape the game when I can't watch.

But I'll miss the Brit presentation of the all American game.

Setanta are in serious financial difficulties , last week they nearly reneged on a £10M payment to the FA. Two of their major financial investors have totally written off investments made in the company. I personally think they will shutdown all the channels apart from ESPN America and keep just one Setanta channel going.

They better not kill Setanta in Canada. It has almost all the football these days, much of it from Sky.

The Americans really need to start taking the WBC seriously, IMO. They remind me of the British teams in the 1930s when the football World Cup was first conceived.

What was really refreshing was that the NIPS won it and only hit 4 homers all tournament. It's about time the Americans realised you don't need the doped up Barry Bonds of this world to play the game.

Untill last summer I had no interest in Baseball then after a summer in St Louis and a few visits to the Busch stadium I changed my mind.
Drinking in the ground, day in the sun watching what can be a surprisingly tense game.

I've just found out...

...how much more do I have to put up with? My football team is getting relegated and the only programme I watch on TV during the summer is taken off air!

I'd like to say a big thanks to JG and JC plus Erik the producer for fronting some awesome moments of TV. If it is indeed correct that MLB have offered the BBC the coverage 'free', surely as a schedule filler...it makes economic sense to show it?
