I thought she/he was one of the first TS to have that operation in the UK.. Certainly still hardcore clubbing it up, in mid 90's.

No, there was a boy called Stephanie (blond, black rimmed specs) who crossed the divide in the late 70s.

The singer with the Molesters was a busy boy in porn at the time. All part of the same contingent I may have mentioned elsewhere on this thread. Extraordinary, the paths we have trodden since. Not for here.

It was at The Embassy. A strange gig as the place was only about three-quarters full (and The Jam already had a bit of a name). There was a full-scale barney in the audience, serious enough for the police to be called. I remember The Jam playing There's a Riot Going On as the Old Bill waded in.

You're the first person I've seen on here - or anywhere - mention that gig. It's almost unknown, which is very strange for a major band

Really? I guess it was a bit empty. Very 'first album' times. . . .Yes, it was an odd night. I spent most of it watching Punky Steve (who was off his tits) challenging the skinny lad (who stood his ground). The Embassy, yes. I went to 3-5 gigs a week at that time (I was a student in London, and back at me mam's for vacation) and this was the first punk gig I'd been to where there was trouble. The second was the Lurkers in Fulham. Hang on, Sham 69 at the Roxy . . . the Adverts at the Vortex (with the famous Danny Baker plea for the talent of recently dead Elvis) . . . yeah, it wasn't so clever after all . . . maybe that's why I went into ambient afterwards LoL!

Hope you're still enjoying the music. I'm just back from Iceland and ATP (Iggy Pop, Godspeed). Not bad for 57

My memory is awful.Too much alcohol and punches to the head.
In the early 80's I worked on the door and behind the bar of a place on the corner opposite the Town Hall in Brighton.
It got really trendy but only served beer in the form of cans of Fosters.
It was the arse end of the Lanes really and near the arcade.

Frock & Jacket. Thanks for letting me in! Great door policy you had, the ratio of 5 smoulderingly hot 20 year olds to every bloke you let in was enough to give the pints of lager a miss for an hour. Happy days

I went to three or four gigs a week too. I was working at the Alliance in the summer of '77 - took home about £32-40 a week (depending how much overtime I did), gave £7 to my dad for keep and the rest was spending money. I was out pretty much every night and there was so much going on. There were quite a few punk gigs where there was trouble. Saw Sham 69 a few times and there was always a barney there and there was a notorious Clash gig at Crawley with a full-scale punch-up.

Don't listen to punk music now but I am 59 this year so that's not surprising

Anyone remember that pub, deryk carver by the lanes? On Friday night it was absolutely rammed with little hotties and for the rest of the week, it was a bit nasty in there.

Our Friday nights were:

William iv...basket makers...green dragon(?)...shades...the sussex....then finally hennekies..and the nightclub underneath.

Then uncle SAMs by St. Peter's church and a bus to bevendean taking my now Mrs home. I would them if I missed the last bus, walk from lower bevendean to ridge side avenue in patcham...long way!

The Brighton Belle club was in Oriental Place. Plenty of totty and a few birds on the game too. Good music; Funk, Soul, Motown. Owned by Mike Hammon. I think the ZAP club started as a night there.

The Mardi Gras club was at the back of Regency Square under the Regency Hotel. Peter Spiers ran it and would play you at pool for £20, which was a fortune then...! His bird was the very sexy Rita who wore skin-tight lurex pants

I will be 59 next year (hopefully) and still listen/see punk bands, but have a diverse taste in music + just noticed this thread is 9 years old!!!!!

X-tremes was where we used to go and see bands if we had nothing planned. Saw King Kurt there, Howard Jones (complete with manacled dancer), Prefab Spout and dozens of others which have disappeared from my memory. I seem to remember that I saw some big-ish bands there before they were famous, but can't recall now who they were!

Yes, I had some good/rewarding nights at the Brighton Belle in the mid 80's. It was a good choice on quiet nights of the week.

We saw a few gigs there in the early 80's of up and coming bands. It was long and narrow inside, tickets just £2?

Short, early sets by new bands left enough time to go clubbing at Coasters, Suite, Busby's or The Pink Coconut afterwards.

Indeed, The Queen Anne. downstairs on the right hand side.
If my memory is not playing tricks, there was the "Fraulein" playing the accordian in there. Happy days early to mid 70's.
We used to meet in the Downs Hotel in Woodingdean, get the 45 to The Steine, Pickwick 1st, then up to the Sussex, Onto the Bath Arms, up to The William Tell, down to the Bosun, then onto the Queen Anne.
From there it was either into Sherrys or Jenkinsons if were having a late night, or a last one in the Pickwick before getting the last 45 back to Woodingdean.

The Belle was where Fatboy cut his teeth. Great little club.
