Maybe, but there’s definitely a big element of ‘vibes’ and not having big groups of selfies, constant recording, or taking the piss out of people enjoying themselves. There was a big thing with Fabric a while back of some 50/60 year old gay bloke dancing in not a lot and some chavs plastered it on twitter taking the piss.I’d think the nightclub rule is more to curb the growing trend of predatory filming of females?

The fact that if you are seen taking photos/video you'll face ejection from club or gig at the worse, or made to delete the images at the least.
Bergy !! That must have been a good 20 years ago @Herr Tubthumper .... Can I see the pic of you in your crotchless leather chaps pls ?It works well at venues I’ve been to. Berghain ask you to leave if it’s a club night but I did see someone being given the option to delete the photos, witnessed by the bouncer, or be removed.
I thought it was a great ideaI read this. I also read some strong criticism from some quarters. I’m personally in favour of it.

It’s still going, it actually celebrates its 20th anniversary this weekend.Bergy !! That must have been a good 20 years ago @Herr Tubthumper .... Can I see the pic of you in your crotchless leather chaps pls ?
...except for Ronald. He's legit!I’d extend to Football Stadiums, nothing worse than a football tourist or some you tube tube with 150 followers recording the entire match looking into the cam.
The The had a good go at enforcing this at their recent Brixton show. TicketMaster had sent out an email requesting that phones be put away for the night and it was really interesting to see that the security staff had been briefed to keep an eye out. A few phones popped up and security shone their torches right at them, effectively shaming the operators. Worked a treat. Very few phones out that night and it was a far better gig for it.Jack White does this at his gigs.
I don’t mind people taking a few pictures, or video clips. I can’t be doing with people who basically watch the gig through their phone, but i don’t want this level of audience control.
I get much more pissed off by people who won’t shut up when a band is on stage.
phone lenses are robust enough to withstand every day abuse so I’m sure a sticker is fine. My phone has been stickered front and back numerous times and is still okay.Only a side issue? But doesn't the sticker wreck the screen? Screens have a coating (oleophobic) which aids a smooth touch and gives a cleaner surface than if it's worn off.
Ah, over the lens makes sense. Glad it hasn't damaged your screen either for the selfie camera.phone lenses are robust enough to withstand every day abuse so I’m sure a sticker is fine. My phone has been stickered front and back numerous times and is still okay.
Saw The The over here and they had a rolling message on the stage before they came on regarding their phone policy. As an aside, weren’t The The/Matt Johnson wonderful? The The had a good go at enforcing this at their recent Brixton show. That said, pretty much everybody their grew up in the time before phones at gigs were a thing, so it wasn't that much of a wrench to do without them for the night. Try doing that at a Taylor Swift show.
