Quick update on that company Reform paid to vet their candidates then claimed they didn't

It seems they bought the software to allow THEM to vet the candidates, then presumably assumed that company also did the vetting. Essentially buying Microsoft Word and assuming Bill Gates would write your novel.

So NONE of the Reform candidates appear to have been vetted. Not a single one.

Whoops. But what a great eye for detail.

Probably fake news. The company has already made a statement to say it wasn't able to perform the checks on time and been reported as offering to refund the party.

I think the website is simply another service.

The probable true story is the election was somewhat of a surprise and a disorganised opportunist rabble like Reform were unable to get their shit together and pass over enough data to screen the candidates.

Or an establishment deep state chem trails anti ULEX mainstream legacy media follow Dan Wootton anti-vax matrix free speech like Enoch Powell quote posts stitch up drain the swamp do your own research and open your eyes NSC I can't be bothered typing this any more scenario.

Make your own mind up.

Part of me thinks it would be hilarious if Farage became an MP, he would get his arse handed to him daily.
I feel like he has had his arse handed to him regularly over the last 10/15 years.

Yes people still vote for him and his party.

They still think he is the best man for the job!!!

That’s because we keep giving him oxygen.

After Kier and Rishi he has had the third most appearances on media channels and Reform haven’t even got any MPs. Journalists are literally creating a platform for him.

This is a man who has been given the opportunity to influence our lives without taking any responsibility or be held to account. It’s scandalous that the media outlets allow it and it is all down to the need to fill 24 hours of news every day. As people get bored of it ratings hunting editors go in search of newstainment, and who shows up? The panto villain Nigel.

But if history has taught us anything then it is not to think you can play with far right politicians. They will certainly bite you and bring ruin in the end.

Putin will be loving this. He has long talked about fighting fascism in Europe. There wasn’t any when he started, but with Macron’s bad gamble, the EU election results, and potentially a Labour government hamstrung on spending, then if we are not careful we will see Nigel (or his goons) back in power in five years.

These people are NOT a joke. They should be treated very seriously. We’re facing the worst type of politician - one who has the gift of the gab but is devoid of serious political ideas. If you thought Johnson was bad, this guy is an apocalypse waiting to happen.

Genuinely interested on this one. Irrespective of politics. I was not aware that you could "buy" software to then perform your own background checks. That sounds rather concerning to me and open to abuse. Every company I have worked for does basic initial referencing but anything more than that was an outsourced service.

Do prospective MP's or even just elected MP's have to be SC ?, they ought to be I'd say.

But I'm constantly told on here that our media is 'balanced' so this just can't be the case.

And when Labour win a landslide, they will point to their one or two Reform 'MPs' and claim a victory for common sense.

If I were a Tory I would be furious about all this.

At least.... Corbyn is such a disorganized old prick he hasn't attempted the same, with 500 communists paying him to stand as 'Refresh' (or whatever he calls his new clan) candidates, splitting the left wing vote.

Corbyn may be an arse , but unlike Trump (sorry, Farage) he isn't a venal ****.
Only you could turn a thread about Nigel Farage into yet another attack on Corbyn. Are you losing your marbles?

Corbyn is no longer leader of the Labour Party. In fact, he isn't even a member of the Labour Party. He is standing as an Independent in Islington. Win or lose, he isn't going to be having any impact, good or bad, on anyones lives except for his constituents (if he wins).

I hope the above explanation puts your mind at rest and you can get a good nights sleep (and stop derailing other threads with your pointless attacks on grandpa).

Was just listening to Rory Stewart saying the BBC listens far too much to accusations of unbalanced reportage and coverage from people with hostile agendas, especially during the Johnson years. And that they should stop concentrating on trying to appear balanced to these people and more on actually being balanced.

I heartily agree.
