Brighton factually.....
Naylor confirms Albion interest in the player. Various sources indicate talks / interest for a few weeks (and previous windows). .
Guardian reporting that a fee is agreed between the clubs - Naylor's reporting denies that.

Presumably its not quite there yet.

Ah, plain English, this i understand :)

Hopefully him and his bezzie Alexis can form a duo as good for us as the Archer / Jordan axis has been at Hove in recent seasons

Just spotted he gets a mention in the piece I linked to in the Darwin Nunez thread.

They say,

We should also discuss the other outlier in the data in the 21-year-old Argentinean forward Nicolas Gonzalez of VfB Stuttgart formerly of the Bundesliga. He has the highest amount of shots per 90 at 3.24 per 90 but his conversion rate of 13.33% is below average.

And

Once again Nicolas Gonzalez is an outlier with an xG of 0.37 but the highest number of touches in the opposition penalty area in 5.76.

Who knows, perhaps we are after both?

He certainly ticks all the Albion boxes ...

What the holy jebus on a unicycle does that mean ?

It's what Naylor does with every transfer to stay relevant and make it sound like he knows what's going on. He has never really broken a transfer story in the last few years.

With his background and experience, I would suggest Aarons is more connected than Naylor when it comes to players around the world.

He’s surely going to add competition to the wide forward areas, especially for Trossard. I don’t see him as a Center forward.

Andy Naylor says....

''I can confirm Brighton’s interest in Nicolás González, as per @ed_aarons, but I’m told the details of where that interest has reached are inaccurate.''

That could read either way. Could mean the deal is all done and just needs announcing.

??? If he was on massive figures he wouldn’t be signing for us, he’s young with a reasonably good goal scoring record.

Problem is that's what I thought when we signed Ali J. Lets hope for a Ulloa type signing rather than the aforementioned.

If we really mean business in this transfer window I would hope for an attacking player like this who would play off the main striker, and a new number 9. Doubtful though.

I dont doubt that there are plans for another genuine CF. With creative players like Gonzalez and Trossard and with Gross and hopefully Lamptey and March getting the ball in from wide, we need a clinical finisher. Someone who doesn't scuff the cutback or need 3 touches. Tough one to find but I believe the work is being done on this.

Yes just like "I dont hate icecream" could mean "I really really hate icecream", its unlikely however. Not sure how much Naylor really know about anything but I think those words imply that the deal is far from done.

I would imagine signing Gonzalez frees us up to send potentially both Zeqiri and Connolly off on loan (or permanently if the hierarchy are fed up with Connolly's off-field antics), we'd still therefore need a genuine #9 as back-up to Maupay (if we assume Gonzalez and Welbeck are competing for one spot, possibly with Trossard)

Or how "I don't like cricket" could mean "I love it".

But anyway, you're probably right. Exciting though.

Starts pretty much every Argentina game when fit. Must be decent.
