Right now although i agree Nicky is a very important part of our side and losing him would be disappointing i think his timing of his 'transfer request' is ill timed and possibly damaging for him and the club.

I dont believe the club will be bullied, we havent before and i cant see it starting now..... therefore that leaves us with a player who says he wants off and fans that are probably pissed off with the board and Nicky.

As far as i'm concerned he shouldnt play tomorrow, he has made his intentions very obvious and as far as im concerned we should now make ours.

While i agree with every word said on here about losing Nicky being a massive blow to the side we cant allow him to manufacture himself a move because we havent yet offered him a new deal

And the point to end all points, WHERE are we going to find a younger 20-30 goal a season striker that want's to play in a shit stadium under disgruntled fans for a year that costs less than 1 million?
ABSO-BLOODY-EXACTLY

I don't see how ANYONE could argue with this. It's all very well to say "we should be going for the Barnard's and Lambert's", conveniently ignoring the fact that they both have gone to a bigger and richer club than us, like all players of that sort do. When was the last time we made a signing like that, because I honestly can't think of one in my lifetime. They've all been players coming down for one reason or another, or players coming up. And therefore a risk.

I would give him another year with the option for it to be extended by a further year if he scores 15 league goals.

Thereby rewarding success without getting into the territory of appearence clauses, that can backfire if a player is only being used as injury cover.

[edit] For info, Forster scored 15 league goals in his first season with us, 12 last season and 12 so far this season.

I think thats pretty much what i would do!
Offer that too him, and see what he says. I cant seem him lasting 2 more years in this league personally, as recently he's hit poor form probably due to fatigue, but is definately worth another year!

We struggled to convince a non-league player to sign for us, and now everyone thinks yeah we have the money, we can replace him and you just can't.

This disregard all comes from the fact Forster hasn't score since Walsall, which was I believe an unforgivable 3 games ago  Murray hasn't even scored at home this season. Without Fozzy we are f***ed, well and truly.

I seriously hopes poyet srops him for tomorrow, the club obviously are not offering him another contract (rightly, he is too old especially if he wants 2 years) and hee is rhrowing his toys out the pram, i say drop him until he either commits to us till the end of the season, failing that loan him to port vale

From the Argus:

Albion's top scorer Nicky Forster has been placed on the transfer list by mutual consent.

Forster, 36, is out of contract in the summer and has yet to be offered a new deal.

He said: "It has been mutually agreed that I have been placed on the transfer list, due to the fact there is no contract in the offing.

"From a personal point of view it is with great regret that this outcome has been reached, as I have enjoyed my time with Brighton and would have liked nothing more than to extend my stay."

Forster has scored 15 goals in 30 games this season and 50 in 116 appearances in total for Albion since a £75,000 move from Hull in June 2007.

What are his wage demands?
Who does Poyet want to bring in instead?

2 questions we don't know the answer to and this is a "come get me" plea from Forster imo.

He'll go out on loan next I bet you....???

Forster isn't getting any younger and I have heard (no concrete source mind) that his knees are not in the best condition after his last op.

Poyet needs to shape his team, we need to support the new management. So disappointed? Yes as he is a good player, but he isn't getting any younger and we need to move forward, he wont be playing in the Championship...if we EVER get there!

I'm genuinely shocked. How can we be so open to losing a player with such an impressive goals to games ratio. There had better be some bloody impressive talent lined up for the summer because right now this looks like a monumental f*** up.

Genuinely shocked to hear this news, and its really bad timing. If we aren't offering him at least another year then I think its a big mistake. If it was just Forster putting in a request it would suggest he's trying to get the club to pull their finger out. However, as it says it was a mutual decision I can't understand it at all. Ridiculous timing.

Can you be so ignorant and WRONG? When??? has he stated he want's two year's, when the f*** has he thrown the toy's out the pram??? Why would you drop our top bloody scorer???

The fact's, as stated in the Argus:
> He hasn't been offered a deal
> He has asked to be put on the transfer list because NO!!! deal has been offered.
> No negotations taking place means that the 1 or 2 years argument in none existent, it is completely unreasonable to suggest he has said this.

And my own argument is that he is one of our best players, a top scorer, a future coach to be, has a stepson that could be the next Gareth Barry, is definitely worth a year as he has a PROVEN record. if Forster doesn't play this season we will go down, that is that and please hold me to it.

No transfer list for Forster say Albion From The Argus)

Albion have denied Nicky Forster has been put on the transfer list by mutual consent and clarified the situation regarding his future at the club.

Managing director Ken Brown said: "Nicky's situation is that he is out of contract end of the season and was free from January to sign for another club if he so wished.

"That has not altered. He has not handed in a written transfer request to the best of my knowledge and if he did it would be totally pointless. We couldn't transfer him, because the transfer window has closed.

"We are a little bit bemused by it. The club has made no decision yet on the players out of contract. That is the manager's decision and he will advise the players as and when he sees fit."

His column in the Argus tomorrow is going to be very interesting but he probably wrote it Tuesday or Wednesday before all this blew up.

Whatever's happening someone has dropped an almighty bollock over this. It's not good for team morale with so many important matches in the next month.

I am not shocked. I forecasted this in an earlier message. I am surprised at the timing.

Forster is the main man and still fighting fit at 36.Even at 36 shows much more energy and passion than many of our players.

Not interested in his age as he scores shiteloads of goals and deserves a contract regardless. Will score plenty til he's 40:thumbsup:

Hope its bullshite???
