Ability? Eh? You have just claimed that Davies and Roberts hold up the ball well and bully the hell out of defenders. That is their job and ability wise they are decent at it.
Skill is not the be all and end all. Does Heskey possess 'skill'? Plenty of players have skill, but nothing more.
What do you think technique involves and do not refer to the Championship Manager manual?
Ps I meant Andy Johnson, not Bent. I seem to remember that you were praising Zamora, but seem willing to write off Johnson? Strange.
I don't want that from a striker, this is what I'm saying. If want a team of brick shit houses, then they're the players I'd buy. But, I don't like that type of player. In the slightest. And no, Heskey does not. He's always been a classic example of the rubbish English striker.
I don't like the constant suggestion that all I know about football is generated by football manager, which isn't true but it's a common misconception on here. To me, techinque means actual footballing ability. The ability to actually get the ball and do something with it... and to actual stick the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis.
Andy Johnson is a decent player, I used his name in jest to begin with because of the Palace past. I will always praise Zamora, because we all know he can score goals and we all know what he's about. I'm sure that if Brighton signed Roberts/Davies/Bent then my opinion might change. But the reality is you judge players by the live matches you've watched on the tele and what you've seen in highlights on MOTD. Maybe that's wrong, but that's the reality of it, and I do watch the majority of live games and haven't missed MOTD for years, so I do know what I'm talking about. Well, I think I do. Opinions will always differ, I've always been told I have an overly idealistic view of football, which is true. But it's my opinion. Disagreable as though that is!
